Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is a majorly popular ride in Disney World and, as a result, it utilizes a virtual queue system for Boarding Groups instead of a standby line like most other Disney World rides.
It can be difficult to secure a spot in the virtual queue for Rise of the Resistance and sometimes guests leave Disney World disappointed for never getting on the ride. However, yesterday guests in Disney’s Hollywood Studios got to experience a brand new way to ride Rise and you’ll want to learn how!
Reporter Scott Gustin shared yesterday that guests in Disney’s Hollywood Studios were able to board Rise of the Resistance without Boarding Groups! That means guests who were NOT in the virtual queue system were able to enter the line for the ride.
another update – after 7pm, guests WITHOUT BOARDING GROUPS were allowed to ride. As of 830pm, Rise was a walk on.

The virtual queue for Rise of the Resistance generally ends at 7PM, and yesterday guests were allowed to enter the standby line after the virtual queue distribution was closed. According to Gustin, at 8:30PM yesterday, guests could walk right onto the ride.
We reached out to Disney to see if they could confirm whether this was a one time opportunity or a new regular thing and a Cast Member confirmed that a stand by option can be available if all Rise of the Resistance Boarding Groups have been able to ride before the park has closed.
So if you are in Hollywood Studios without a Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group, keep checking the line towards the end of the night because you never know when you could get lucky and be able to ride via standby! Keep reading AllEars for all your Disney World news and tips!
