Disney hasn’t offered free MagicBands to Disney World Resorts guests for a while now, and now another group of guests are losing their free MagicBands as well.
Disney gave the Annual Passholders a heads-up about this change a couple of months ago, and it’s going in to effect beginning today!
Previously, Disney offered Annual Passholders a complimentary MagicBand when they purchased the Annual Pass for the first time and each time they renewed it.
Disney hasn’t offered free MagicBands to most other guests anymore since they introduced the MagicMobile service (a way to keep your tickets on the My Disney Experience app and use your phone to enter the parks). However, Annual Passholders still got a complimentary MagicBand, although the options were limited when the MagicMobile service came out.
Now, Annual Passholders will also not be given the free MagicBands when they buy a pass or renew it. Starting today, August 16th, Annual Passholders will not receive a complimentary MagicBand. Instead, they can use the MagicMobile on their phone, use MagicBands they already have linked to their Disney account, buy a new MagicBand (with their AP discount), or use their Annual Pass card.
Disney is offering some fun backgrounds to choose from for the MagicMobile pass, including a couple exclusive to Annual Passholders. But if you’d rather have the MagicBand as your ticket into Disney World, you’ll need to use one of your own or buy a new one!
