Disney Files Permits for NEW Expansion in Hollywood Studios

“Eye” literally can’t wait for the new land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

Monstropolis, based on Monsters, Inc., is currently under construction in the former home of Muppets Courtyard. With this revamped land, we’ll be getting new dining, new shopping, and a brand-new roller coaster. Recently, Disney filed some new permits for Monstropolis that give us a hint as to how construction is going!

The first of the four permits filed is for the building that used to house Muppet*Vision 3D. The permit is for “installing set elements” and the contractor on the job is a company called InterAmerica Stage, which specializes in stage rigging, machinery, and special equipment. Getting ready for a new show, perhaps?

A second permit was also filed for this location, for the purpose of installing signage. The contractor used for this one is Design Communications Ltd. They’re known for their custom sign work. Perhaps soon, we could see some exterior signage for the updated theater?

The third permit is for the building that used to house Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano. It’s a notice of commencement to install signage as well. The same signage company is working on this project. This space is likely to become Harryhausen’s, the restaurant featured in the first film of the franchise.

Finally, there’s another signage installation permit for the former PizzeRizzo building. Disney hasn’t shared yet what this space will be, but it’s possible that it could just be revamped as a new quick service spot.
