Today is a big day in Disney World news!
With the start of the new year, we’re seeing the holiday festivities end and the decorations come down. Park Hopping returns today with a new modified system, and MagicBands are no longer free for resort guests. Now, it seems as though the loss of free MagicBands is impacting other guests as well, namely Annual Passholders.
Previously, when purchasing a Walt Disney World Annual Pass, guests would be given the choice of a free MagicBand in a variety of solid colors, very similar to the free choices given to Disney Resort guests. If the guests desired to upgrade, they could pay a discounted price for a detailed MagicBand — one with a character, attraction, or other theme.
As of today, it seems as though the only choice of free MagicBand for Annual Passholders is the gray color. There are no longer any other solid color choices available.
If you’d like to upgrade to a band with a character, attraction, or special theme, there is still a variety to choose from. These bands cost anywhere from $7-$20, and most are cheaper with an Annual Pass than they would be to purchase in Disney World or on shopDisney.
