We Wore Poncho Pants in Disney World — Here’s Our Honest Review

Rain gear for theme parks sounds great in theory, but the execution can go sideways fast.

Poncho Pants

If you’ve ever been caught in a Florida downpour with soaked jeans and two more hours left in the park, you know exactly why people go searching for cheap, packable rain solutions. Disposable poncho pants seem like the perfect answer, and we put a popular option to the test to see if they’re actually worth it.

The idea behind the Geyoga 8 Pcs Disposable Rain Pants with Shoe Boot is smart: throw a pair in your bag, slip them on when the sky opens up or when you’re hopping on a water ride, and toss them when you’re done. Eight pairs for a few dollars sounds like a no-brainer, and the “shoe boot” design, in theory, means your feet stay protected, too.

Here’s the honest truth, though. The plastic on these is genuinely the thinnest material you’ve probably ever touched outside of a grocery store produce bag. They’re also extremely long, like, comfortably fitting a seven-footer long, which means anyone of average height is going to have a significant amount of extra material bunching up around their shoes.

The leg openings are sealed shut, so you’ll need to cut or tear them open if you want to actually walk safely in the parks in them. Trying to figure that out in the middle of a crowded park while it’s raining is not a situation you want to be in.

These really need to be altered at home before your trip. Trim them to length, open up the bottoms, and then pack them. Don’t count on doing any of that on the fly.

There’s also a condensation issue worth knowing about. Within about a minute of wearing them, the inside of the legs started fogging up and collecting moisture. So while your legs stay dry from the rain, you’re trading that for a different kind of wet. It’s a real consideration, especially on a hot Florida day when staying cool and hydrated matters.

That said, if the choice is between soaked jeans and slightly sweaty legs, these do technically do their job. They’re a budget option, and they perform like one, but with some prep work ahead of time, they can get you through a rainy park day.

We will say, while a standard poncho is 100% a better solution for rainy days, these are a good solution if you want to stay dry on water rides like Kali River Rapids and Tiana’s. They would even work great for unexpected water rides like Pirates and Frozen!! Running around in a huge storm in these? Meh. Wearing them so you don’t look like you peed your pants for an hour after a water ride? A win!

At the end of the day, disposable rain pants are one of those items where managing expectations is half the battle. They’re not a perfect solution, but a prepared pair can save your park day in a pinch.
