BIG things are happening in Disney World. Magic Kingdom is getting a Frontierland Cars expansion AND a new Villains land.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is getting a Villains show and a new Monsters, Inc. land, while Disney’s Animal Kingdom is getting a Zootopia show and a Tropical Americas-themed land, Pueblo Esperanza. Meanwhile, Disney is busy sprucing up other rides, too, so let’s just say some rides in Disney World will be closed in 2025.
Magic Kingdom
Over in Magic Kingdom, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland is closed for a lengthy refurbishment that could take the greater part of the year. Although Disney has not revealed a reopening date, Disney has stated the construction would last for at least a year, so this ride will probably not reopen until at least 2026.

In Tomorrowland, Astro Orbiter is also getting a refurbishment — in fact, parts of the ride have been removed to be taken to another facility for an update. We don’t have a reopening date for this ride either.

As Disney has plans to replace Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat with the new Villains land, it’s possible those two attractions could also close sometime this year. However, Disney has not yet revealed any details about its plans there.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Disney has announced that Muppet*Vision 3D will officially close on June 7th. This is a permanent closure to make way for the new Monsters, Inc. land that will be coming to the park.

The Muppets will be moving over to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, which will be getting a re-theme. Disney hasn’t announced a closure date for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster yet, but that could happen this year.
EPCOT
Test Track is currently under construction and getting a re-theme. Disney has revealed, though, that the ride will reopen in summer 2025. That could be as late as August or September, so keep that in mind.

Gran Fiesta Tour starring The Three Caballeros in EPCOT’s Mexico Pavilion is also closed for refurbishment. However, that ride will be reopening on March 15th.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
As we mentioned, Dinoland, U.S.A. is going through a phased closure to make way for a new land, but in the meantime, Disney has stated Dinosaur will be available to ride through 2025, so we don’t expect it to close this year. However, Disney will be closing It’s Tough To Be A Bug to start preparations for the new show that will be happening there, Zootopia, Better Zoogether!

It’s Tough To Be A Bug will permanently close on March 16th.
If you’re visiting Disney World this year, you’ll want to keep these closures in mind.

Closing rides and attractions is just part of the business which should be understood but if the decision is made to close so may at one time, then in order to take care of your customers, a reduction in park tickets should be reflected for that period.
