A Popular Universal Orlando Ride Is CLOSING in January!

We talk a lot about how much is in store for Disney World in 2025, but Universal Orlando has a lot going on, as well!

In fact, starting in January there are a few changes that will be taking place. We know that Universal just filed a permit to demolish one of its roller coasters to make way for a new attraction, they just removed drones from their nighttime show, and a popular attraction over at Islands of Adventure will be closing for refurbishment SOON!

Jurassic Park River Adventure will close for its annual refurbishment on January 6th and stay closed through January 23rd. This water ride is one of many in Islands of Adventure that typically closes in the winter for a short period of time to perform regular maintenance in the colder months when fewer people are looking to ride.

If you’re a big fan of water rides, you’ll also want to know that Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges will be closed from February 1st through March 15th. Universal typically doesn’t close all their water rides at the same time to still allow for families to experience one if the cold doesn’t bother them.

These water rides are no joke! If you’re visiting the park during a chilly day and want to ride the attraction but aren’t a big fan of getting wet, DON’T make the mistake of thinking you won’t get soaked — while sometimes you get lucky and only get a few drops on you, that’s often not the case, and you don’t want to walk around soggy for the rest of the day. You can bring a poncho with you to wear over your clothes, but even that will only protect so much, so keep that in mind!
