Genie+ has changed and we’re answering all of your questions.

Beginning June 27th, Disney World guests can buy Genie+ based on what parks they want to visit. This means Genie+ pricing will be park specific and you can choose to purchase it for a single park or multiple parks. As with any change at Disney, we’re here to help answer your questions about the new system!
With the new system, if you are selecting a single park Genie+ option, the prices will vary based on the park you pick. So Genie+ will actually be cheaper at certain parks compared to others. Prices will continue to fluctuate depending on the day as it did before. So let’s get into your questions.

If you buy a multi-park option but end up only staying in one park for the day, can you get the difference refunded or do you just have to deal with it?
You cannot downgrade. Once you pay for the multi-park option, there is no opportunity to get a refund if you decide to stay at that park. For example, if you purchase the multi-park option at $27 and don’t end up hopping to another park, you won’t have the option to get a refund even if the Genie+ service goes unused.

How does this change will work for new vacation packages that include Genie+ and will it affect people who purchased Genie+ previously as part of a vacation package?
If you have a vacation package where you had already purchased the Genie+ option, you should call Disney directly. The Cast Member we spoke to said it will be on a case-by-case base as there are many options for vacation packages and tickets out there.

Is there one set multi-park price or does it differ depending on the parks?
As of right now, the multi-park price is based on the highest individual park price that day. For example, today Magic Kingdom is the highest individual Genie+ at $27 and the multi-park option is also $27. When we spoke to a Cast Member, it was noted that this could change.

If I decide later in the day I want to park hop with Genie+, can I add it for another park or am I out of luck if I didn’t initially buy the multi-park option?
As long as your ticket allows for park hopping (an annual pass or park hopping option to your ticket), you can upgrade later. It is still not clear if you have to wait until 2PM to upgrade or if you could upgrade earlier in the day. You will have to pay the difference for the multi-park Genie+ option, though.

What happens if Genie+ is sold out for one park that day? Can you still purchase the multi-park option?
Disney will not be able to sell you a multi-park option if Genie+ in one park is sold out. For example, if Magic Kingdom is sold out of Genie+, you will not be able to purchase a multi-park option. You can however purchase another single-day park. Going with the previous example, if you are at EPCOT that day, Magic Kingdom is sold out, and want to go to Hollywood Studios, you can purchase Genie+ for both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios separately. You will not be able to purchase the multi-park option.

Can you book Lightning Lanes for multiple parks if you purchase the multi-park option of Genie+?
This will work the same as the previous Genie+ system. If you have the multi-park option, and a lightning lane is available at another park after 2PM, you can book them. However, if you are at Magic Kingdom and are planning to hop to Hollywood Studios, you will not be able to do so until 2PM and will have to book a lightning lane that will begin at 2PM or later.
