Whether we’re a master planner or we’ve never planned a Disney World vacation before, we all have our own unique style and spin on putting together the perfect trip.

Today, we thought it would be fun to identify some of the most popular planning “types” when it comes to putting together a Disney World vacation — which of these five planners are YOU?
The Spreadsheet Lover
“Color-coded” is your middle name! If you fall into this planning category, your family and friends likely go to you for every Disney World vacation planning need. Your alarm is set 60 days prior to arrival for your Advance Dining Reservations, you know about all of the latest tools like Genie and Genie+, and you have arrival and departure times to and from the parks each and every day. You’re a Disney planning pro and proud of it! You literally have a spreadsheet for your upcoming vacation, and you reference it daily (bonus points if your spreadsheet comes with special formulas and formatting!).

The Non-Planner
Whereas the Spreadsheet Lover has their T’s crossed and their I’s dotted, the non-planner does the exact opposite. If this is you, you like to make things up as you go and “wing it” once you arrive in Disney World. Others may criticize you, but there is some merit to winging your Disney World trip. Things are bound to go awry, and your plans may change (messing up those carefully thought-out spreadsheets!), so it’s good to have a healthy dose of planning plus time to “improvise.” But you? You’re not afraid to leave things up to chance!

The Over-Planner
Don’t get this next category mixed up with the Spreadsheet Lover! The big difference here is that the Spreadsheet Lover knows when to schedule breaks, whereas the Over-Planner doesn’t believe that breaks exist in Disney World! No rest for the weary! If this is you, you’re bringing the family to the parks for rope drop, and you aren’t leaving until they kick you out at the end of the night! Cramming every single possible activity into one day may get a lot done over the course of your trip, but be careful not to burn out halfway through! Be sure to over-estimate and over-plan how much down time you need. And, please, consider an afternoon by the pool!

The First Timer
If you aren’t really sure how to plan a trip to Disney World, it may be because you’ve never been to the parks! If that’s you, welcome to the club! There are a ton of helpful articles here on how to plan a successful trip to Disney World. Be sure to give yourself extra time to read through all of the information regarding restaurants, rides, entertainment, and more.

The Last-Minute Scrambler
Finally, there’s the Last-Minute Scrambler. If this is you, you either forgot the trip was next week, or you didn’t even book the trip until the week before (no judgment here — last-minute trips to Disney World are thrilling!). There are still plenty of ways to have a successful Disney World trip that’s planned days before. For example, many of Disney World’s restaurants at the resorts and at Disney Springs often have last-minute reservations available. The key here is to set your expectations fairly so you can still have the best trip possible.

We hope this list not only made you smile but also gave you some ideas to think about when planning your next Disney World vacation! If you tend to over-plan, consider building in some time to rest and relax in the middle of your trip! If you plan everything last-minute, look out for those easy-to-get reservations. And no matter what kind of Disney World planner you are, be sure to follow along for all of the latest tips and advice for your next vacation!

I used to be an over-planner but my body can’t take it anymore. Now I fall between a Spreadsheeter and winging it. My spreadsheet is a piece of paper with all of my ADRs on there but I’m highly likely to change things up last minute if I’m just not up to it. I used to have the mindset of “you can rest at home” but those days are long gone. Don’t let anyone tell you that getting old is easy lol.
