Just How Accurate Are the Posted Wait Times at Disney’s Hollywood Studios?

So much is changing at Disney World these days.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

We’re noticing that self-serve condiment stations are returning to restaurants, nighttime spectaculars are now back on the My Disney Experience app, and pre-shows are returning to rides.

We’re also starting to see more crowds coming back to the parks, and we’re keeping track of posted and actual wait times to see if more people means longer lines! So here’s what those wait times looked like today at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Over in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run had a posted wait time of 70 minutes. Yes, we’re used to standing in line here. The actual wait time was 73 minutes, which got us to the pre-show (which is how Disney calculates the wait). But from the time we got in line to the time we stepped into the cockpit, about 80 minutes had passed.

In Toy Story Land, the posted wait time for Slinky Dog Dash was a total of 90 minutes. But that was way off because we only waited 67 minutes. We were riding on Slinky a lot faster than we expected.

Staying in the same land, we checked out Toy Story Mania with a posted 30 minute wait. This was lower than expected because we were on the ride in only 23 minutes!

Next up, we’re heading to Sunset Boulevard to ride Tower of Terror! This thrilling attraction had a posted wait time of 30 minutes. It only took us 18 minutes to get to the pre-show and 25 minutes actually board the attraction. That’s another ride we waited less for!

We took a few steps over to ride Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster which had a posted wait of 65 minutes. It was close to that time since we got on the ride in 64 minutes, but we reached the pre-show room in 55 minutes.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is next! The posted wait of 40 minutes was a bit high for this one because it only took us 23 minutes to get to the pre-show and 36 minutes to get on the ride.

Last but not least, we checked out Star Tours! Although this one had a posted 5 minute wait, we ended up waiting 10 minutes for this one. Not too long at all, but a little longer than the posted time!

Sometimes the wait times were pretty close, but it still seems like the posted times are longer than our actual waits. This has been the trend since the parks reopened, and it looks like it has continued!

We’ll continue to compare our wait times at all the parks, so stay tuned for more details.
