Walt Disney World (especially Epcot) is in the midst of a massive transformation. Some of these changes — like the closure of Club Cool — may not be popular with some guests.
But thankfully, we have some pretty awesome NEW RIDES to look forward to once the construction dust (metaphorically and literally) clears!
Let’s chat about ALL the new rides coming to Walt Disney World!
Coming Soon to Disney’s Hollywood Studios
There are TWO new rides coming soon to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and thankfully, we don’t have to wait too long for the first one to open!
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened in Disney World late this summer, and with it came Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. While we certainly enjoy taking a spin on the “fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy,” we’re REALLY ready for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance to open later this year.
Opening on December 5, 2019, this highly-anticipated attraction will feature multiple ride systems, “escape pods”, and even a Tower of Terror-like drop. You’ll also be able to spot a few of your favorite characters like Rey, BB-8, and Poe Dameron.
The ride is set to be Disney’s longest ride in history, so we expect the wait will be worth it!

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Also coming soon to Hollywood Studios is Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, which is set to open in the spring of 2020.
On this trackless dark ride, you’ll step through the movie screen and join Mickey and his friends like never before. The attraction will put you inside the wacky and unpredictable world of a Mickey Mouse Cartoon Short where you’re the star and anything can happen.
This zany out-of-control adventure is set to feature surprising twists and turns, dazzling visual effects and mind-boggling transformations that happen before your very eyes.

Coming Soon to Epcot
In addition to a whole host of changes coming to Epcot — including the fancy new Epcot Experience — three new rides are on their way to Epcot as well!
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
Opening in the France Pavilion in the summer of 2020 is Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. This is another trackless dark ride, and it will be quite similar to Ratatouille: The Adventure in Disneyland Paris.
During the attraction, guests will shrink to Remy’s size and scurry to safety in a dazzling chase across a kitchen with the sights, sounds, and smells of Gusteau’s legendary Parisian restaurant.
This attraction is hugely popular in Paris, and we expect it to be equally popular in Epcot’s France Pavilion as well.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Also joining the lineup of attractions in Epcot is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
The ride looks like it will be AWESOME, and it will feature the first reverse launch into space! This thrilling, family-friendly attraction will feature a never-before-seen storytelling coaster that rotates to focus on the action – wherever it may be.
The ride vehicles will actually be able to rotate 360 degrees in order to enhance the thrills of this coaster.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is expected to open in time for Disney World’s 50th-anniversary celebrations in 2021.

Yet-to-be-Named Mary Poppins Attraction
Now, we aren’t sure what type of experience Epcot’s upcoming Mary Poppins attraction will be, but we hope it’ll be a ride!
World Showcase at Epcot will welcome the first attraction inspired by Mary Poppins on Cherry Tree Lane, which will join the United Kingdom pavilion as an entirely new neighborhood! You will walk down Cherry Tree Lane past Admiral Boom’s house, then enter Number 17 (home of the Banks family), where your adventure will begin.
We don’t have too many details about this attraction yet, but we’ll keep you posted as we learn more!

Coming Soon to Magic Kingdom
TRON Lightcycle Run
Rounding out our list of upcoming rides coming to Disney World is TRON Lightcycle Run. This attraction is heavily based on Shanghai Disneyland’s TRON Lightcycle Power Run, and we can’t wait to ride it in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland.
TRON Lightcycle Run is coaster-style attraction in which riders board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles. It offers access into the energy, lights, and excitement of TRON’s high-tech universe and is poised to become one of the most thrilling adventures at any Disney park.
This high-speed coaster is the most popular ride in Shanghai Disneyland, and it is slated to open in time for Disney World’s 50th-anniversary celebrations in 2021!

What’s your all-time favorite ride in Disney World? Let us know in the comment section!
EPCOT was built as a showcase of history, culture, technology and innovation. Characters were deliberately omitted to keep the focus on these things. Disney is determined to turn it into another kiddie park. Sad
All that died with Eisner nearly 30 years ago. To quote a well themed EPCOT ride “Let it go!”
