If you’re planning a trip to Disney World in 2026, you’ll need to be prepared for quite a few transportation changes.

Depending on when you’ll be visiting the Most Magical Place on Earth, you might not be expecting Skyliner or boat transportation closures, or even potential road closures. We’ve rounded up the biggest transportation changes you need to know about ahead of your 2026 Disney World trip.
Heads up if you’re heading to Disney World in 2026! Some big transportation changes could impact your trip. We don’t want you to be caught off guard on your trip, so make sure you keep these changes in mind!
Skyliner Closure
We LOVE using the Disney World Skyliner to get around the parks and hotels. With stops at EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Caribbean Beach Resort, Riviera Resort, Pop Century & Art of Animation Resorts, and proximity to even more EPCOT resorts, it’s a great (and fun!) way to get from one place to another. But, the Skyliner will be closed in early 2026 for routine maintenance.

It’s not closed for a long time, but from January 25th to January 31st, 2026, the Skyliner will not be operating. During the closure, Disney will instead be running buses from the Skyliner hotels to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. Keep this in mind when booking your hotel!

Wilderness Lodge Boat Closure
From January 12th, 2026, to April 2026, the boat dock at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will undergo routine maintenance. Boat transportation will temporarily be suspended from January 12th to January 30th.

The rest of the dock will continue to undergo refurbishment until April, so you might see and hear additional construction in the area, but the boat is expected to return and continue operating on January 31st. You can use the buses to get to Magic Kingdom instead, along with any of the other parks you’re trying to go to.

runDisney Race Road Closures
There are multiple runDisney races taking place in 2026, and we typically see road closures throughout the resort. If you’re driving, this could mean the route you normally take is closed off. These closures usually don’t last too long — mostly in the mornings over a weekend, but there are multiple races per year.

The 2026 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend runs from January 7th to January 11th, while the runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend races will take place from April 16th to April 20th, 2026. Make sure you follow signs for alternate routes if you’re driving to Disney World on these dates!

Disney Springs Garage Closure
While this isn’t necessarily a transportation change, it could still impact your visit in early 2026. In a public vendor portal, Disney made a listing looking for contractors to take on the project of renovating Lime Garage at Disney Springs. The project is set to begin around January 12th, 2026, and run for 60 days.

Disney did note that “Work shall be completed in phases, and Contractor shall work with the District to minimize disruptions and facilitate maximum garage capacity and operations around work zone(s). Contractor shall note this project has a critical schedule and a required completion date.” It sounds like the whole garage might not be closed at once, but it could still impact your visit.
