Universal has just announced that a popular opening day ride at Islands of Adventure is closing for a month right in the middle of the crowded spring season.

One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish is a popular spinner attraction – think Dumbo or the Magic Carpets of Aladdin – in Islands of Adventure’s Seuss Landing area. The ride features vehicles shaped like the whimsical fish from the original storybook and allows riders to control their movement over a watery fountain through a joystick, all while synchronized to a soundtrack. The attraction is quite popular with families – though not generally seen as a must-do – which means that its just-announced unavailability could prove to be an issue for visitors.
According to Universal’s calendar, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish will be closed April 27th – May 24th, 2024.

While the loss of a simple spinner ride might not seem like a major loss given Islands of Adventure’s massive catalog of ethnologically advanced behemoths like VelociCoaster, Hagrid’s Magical Creature Motorbike Adventure, and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, it’s important to remember that the ride (and Seuss Landing as a whole) are one of the few areas of the park specifically tailored to families with young children.
In fact, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish is one of only four rides in the park that doesn’t have a minimum height requirement, instead simply requiring supervision for any children under 48 inches tall.

While One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish being closed for a month may not seem like a big deal for thrill seekers or Universal aficionados, it definitely harder for families with young children to find something for everyone to do during a day at Islands of Adventure.
