Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Space Mountain Are CLOSED in Disney World

Disney World can be full of surprises — some are wonderful, others are less-than-great.

Over the past few months alone, we’ve encountered unusual issues with monorail gates, transportation problems, and all kinds of ride closures. On March 31st, the complications continued.

On March 31st, at around 9:45AM ET we saw that 3 hugely popular rides were listed as “temporarily closed” in the My Disney Experience App. Specifically, Expedition Everest (Animal Kingdom), Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Magic Kingdom), and Space Mountain (Magic Kingdom) were all unexpectedly CLOSED — that’s not the best way to start your morning!

Update: Just a few minutes later, Expedition Everest reopened but the 2 Magic Kingdom rides continued to be listed as “temporarily closed.”

Sometimes, as noted above, rides will be listed as “closed” but will swiftly reopen. Other times, the closures can last for several minutes or hours. It just depends on the situation.

Here’s what to do if a ride suddenly closes during your trip:

Check the My Disney Experience app constantly for updates (if a wait time is displayed, you’ll know the ride has likely reopened!)
Ask Cast Members outside of the attraction if they know what has happened and if they have a better idea about when the ride might reopen
Come up with a plan “B” in case one of your must-do rides unexpectedly closes
Mentally prepare little ones for potential closures by discussing the possibility at home
Use that closure time to knock other things off of your list, take a break, grab a snack, or otherwise utilize your time in the park!
