The Unexpected Ride Closure That Could Mess Up Your Day in Magic Kingdom

Listen, when you’re visiting Disney World, the My Disney Experience app can be a LIFESAVER.

We always recommend downloading the app to help you during your vacation because it includes things like Mobile Order for food, Mobile Checkout for shopping, maps of the parks, access to Disney Genie and Genie+, and the ability to view wait times without walking up to the rides. And if you looked at the My Disney Experience app during a visit to Magic Kingdom this morning, it would’ve saved you some headache!

Not only does the list of wait times show how long you can expect to stand in line for each ride, but it also shows whenever a ride is temporarily closed. And this morning, Peter Pan’s Flight fell victim to technical difficulties.

It’s fairly common for rides to close down for a portion of the day due to technical problems or weather, and most often, they’ll open back up later in the day. If you keep an eye on the app, you’ll know that a ride has reopened when it starts showing a wait time again.

If you’re ever waiting for a ride to come back up, we suggest watching My Disney Experience very closely or hanging out nearby. If you delay too long getting in line after it reopens, then all the guests that had Lightning Lanes during the closure will return and Disney will prioritize those guests — making your wait much longer in the process.
