Disney Fans Are BEGGING for This Restaurant Change

It’s no secret that Disney World has a lot of dining options spread across the property, including everything from quick service locations and food courts to a LITERAL MICHELEN Star-winning restaurant located at Disney hotels. However, not all of these eateries are created equal, and our readers know it.

We recently took to our Facebook page to ask, “Which Disney World restaurant needs to PERMANENTLY close?” Suffice to say, we got a litany of responses, some expected… and some VERY much not!

Numerous readers called for the closure of Coral Reef at EPCOT’s Living Seas Pavilion, giving it the most votes by a relatively wide margin. Reader Diane particularly spelled out, writing bluntly, “I never understood eating fish while looking at fish.”

Reader Randy called for some restaurant swapping at the Magic Kingdom, positing that Disney should close “Golden Horseshoe, move Columbia Harbor House over, and add a Haunted Mansion restaurant in that location.”

Reader Ben would like to see Nine Dragons in EPCOT’s China pavilion closed, saying, “Nothing really wrong with it, but it’s just a standard American Chinese restaurant. Would love a hot pot restaurant or, frankly, any type of Chinese restaurant that’s different than what I can get at home.”

Other restaurants that received multiple votes included Be Our Guest, Sci Fi Dine-In Theater, Space 220, Rainforest Cafe, and Planet Hollywood.

Reader Bonnie had a more general call to action, writing “Do not close any, let’s just upgrade the food (and) offerings in some of the atmosphere with characters you never see in the parks.”

Reader Nadia took a different tack, not calling for any restaurant to be closed, but instead returned to their previous iterations. These included Beaches and Cream (“a nautical soda shop in an early-mid 20th century beach resort”) and Sunshine Seasons (bring back the original design and “have the balloons move again).
