There are usually at least a few construction projects going on around Disney World, and, with the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebrations kicking off soon, we’ve been seeing a lot of refurbishments and updates lately.

But, here at AllEars, we keep you up to date on all those closures! So today, we’re bringing you an update on all the attractions and resorts that will be closed from August 23rd to August 29th, 2021 for refurbishment.
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
Walt Disney World Railroad
It’s been over two years since the Walt Disney World Railroad has been open to guests and the closure is set to continue through the next week at Magic Kingdom.

Construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run is currently blocking a portion of the tracks so it could be some time before the railroad is up and running once again, as no reopening timeline has been announced by Disney just yet.

Main Street Confectionery
The Main Street Confectionery will also continue to be closed this week on Main Street, U.S.A. as Disney continues to transform the space for the 50th Anniversary celebrations.

But, if you’re craving some of the sweet treats from the location, you’ll still be able to find many of the classic treats and snacks just down the street at the Main Street Cinema.

Liberty Square Riverboat
This week, the Liberty Square Riverboat will also close for a short period of time from August 23rd to August 31st.

The attraction had previously closed a few months ago for refurbishments in the Rivers of America and on Tom Sawyer Island, but this is likely general maintenance due to the short timeframe of the closure.

Disney World Resort Refurbishments
The Disney parks aren’t the only spots with construction going on — there are also some projects in the Disney World Hotels! At Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, work will continue on the monorail station and entrance area, so be prepared to take a few detours to get where you’re going if you’re staying here.

And, over at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, there’s been a lot of hard-to-miss construction going on as the rooms in the main building get an Incredibles-themed look and the reimagining of The Wave…of American Flavors continues in the lobby.

Disney is also continuing refurbishments at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, so guests can expect temporary closures of the port cochere and the main lobby area coming soon. For now, curbside check-in is occurring at the Disney Vacation Club Preview Center here.

And, at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, work continues in the lobby area with the alternating closure of the den area and lobby.

We’ll continue to keep an eye out for more closures that may impact your Disney World Resort stay, so check back with us!
