7 Spots That Will Be CLOSED for Refurbishment in Disney World Next Week

When you’re visiting Disney World, it’s pretty likely that there’s at least one construction project going on in the parks or resorts.

A lot of these projects can result in a ride, shop, or location closing for a short period of time and, here at AllEars, we keep you up to date on all those closures! So today, we’re bringing you an update on all the attractions and resorts that will be unavailable from June 28th to July 4th, 2021 for refurbishment.

Magic Kingdom Refurbishments

Walt Disney World Railroad

Over at Magic Kingdom, the Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for quite some time now — over 2 years to be exact, as a portion of the train tracks is currently blocked by the construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run in Tomorrowland.

And, nothing will be changing this week. The railroad is scheduled to be closed for the entire week with no expected opening date just yet. But, we’ll keep an eye out for any updates!

The Hall of Presidents

The Hall of Presidents will also be closed again this week as it undergoes more routine refurbishment. The attraction closes every time a new president is elected so that they can add the newest president.

Right now Disney is working to add President Joe Biden to the show and has not announced a reopening date just yet.

Main Street Confectionery

The last closure in Magic Kingdom this week takes us to Main Street U.S.A. where the Main Street Confectionery is receiving a major update.

The treat shop closed back in March and is expected to be under construction for a pretty long time, but you can still get your candy fix at the Main Street Cinema in the meantime. And, of course, we’ll continue to keep an eye out for updates from Disney on when the shop will reopen.

Disney World Resort Refurbishments

There are also some construction projects going on at the Disney World hotels! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has been receiving a big refurbishment that includes updates to the entryway, lobby, and monorail station. Plus, even the guest rooms are getting a transformation to be Moana-inspired! But, the closures won’t impact this hotel much longer — you can book the new rooms for stays beginning next month.

At Disney’s Contemporary Resort, it can be hard to notice the construction going on in the Main Tower Guest Rooms. The rooms have been closed since April as they receive a new Incredibles-inspired look! And, in the meantime, the rest of the hotel remains unaffected by the work.

Two more resorts are set to join the refurbishment calendar this week, with work beginning at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort on June 18th which will result in the closure of the hallway connecting the main lobby.

And, on the same date, the den area near the lobby in Disney’s Old Key West Resort will close for construction as well.

Both projects are set to take place in three phases and last through mid-fall.
