We’ve been keeping track of quite a few construction projects around Walt Disney World recently!
In the parks, we’ve been watching as work on the EPCOT Transformation progresses, and over in the Disney World Resorts, work continues at popular hotels like Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Contemporary Resort. And, now two more hotels will be receiving some updates soon.
According to an update shared with Disney travel agents, both Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and Disney’s Old Key West Resort will undergo refurbishments beginning this summer.
Work on Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa lobby and porte cochere will begin on June 28th and will take place in three phases. Phase one will start on June 28th and will result in the closure of the hallway connecting the main lobby. Though, there will still be access to both the restrooms and The Artist’s Palette.
During phase two, the port cochere will close from July 12th through late September. Disney will be adding a temporary walkway for guests who are arriving on Disney’s Magical Express and all guests who bring a car will be directed to curbside check-in at the Disney Vacation Club Preview Center.
And, phase three will begin in early August and will involve the closure of the main lobby area. By this time though, the connecting hallway will have reopened for guests, so all front desk and concierge services will move to the hallway in addition to curbside check-in at the Disney Vacation Club Preview Center.
Disney World’s website has been updated to show some details about these refurbishments. Specifically, it now notes that the refurbishment at Saratoga Springs is expected to last through late October, 2021.
Over at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, refurbishments will begin on June 28th as well. It will start with the closure of the den area near the lobby and, once complete, check-in and concierge services will move into the den area for the temporary closure of the lobby.
Disney has not shared dates that the lobby area is expected to close just yet.
Once complete, the lobby will feature an “enhanced check-in experience offering an open, free-flowing layout with a variety of smaller counters” for guests.
Disney has also updated their website information regarding Old Key West. The site specifies that the refurbishment is expected to last through late September, 2021.
These are two of the older Disney Vacation Club resorts, and the refurbishments will join other recent projects we’ve spotted at the hotels. We will keep an eye out for more updates on the two projects and share the latest, so stay tuned!
