Something NEW (and Unexpected) Has Arrived at the EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival

The EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival has officially kicked off, and we’re checking out everything there is to see, do, and eat.

Spike Topiary

Now, one of our favorite things at the festival is seeing all the fun topiaries spread throughout EPCOT. One of those topiaries is of Spike the Bee, and you can see him in CommuniCore Hall. However, this topiary is not quite like the others.

So we were visiting the Spike the Bee topiary in CommuniCore Hall, and it turns out he has a little countdown. Once the countdown hits zero, his lighting changes, and you hear the song “Flight of the Bumblebee” by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. Then the light dims, the audio becomes quieter, and you hear a thunderstorm with softer music.

A Cast Member told us this happens around every 80 or 90 minutes, and that there’s even a different version of this show at night (and we will be checking it out, so be sure to stick around to see what that’s like). It’s similar to the gingerbread Spaceship Earth lighting show we get to see with the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays. What a fun little thing to witness!

Such a fun detail!

So if you happen to find yourself at the festival, be sure to pay a visit to Spike the Bee inside Communicore Hall to see this fun little detail for yourself.

We’ll also keep you updated on everything the EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival has to offer, so check back with AllEars again soon for more.
