Since Annual Passes were first introduced to Disney World’s parks with the opening of EPCOT Center in 1982, perks for members have been a major selling point for Annual Passholders.

Fast-forward 40+ years, and perks are still a major part of the AP experience. However, we think Disney could make the system even better by learning something from Six Flags… no, really…
As Six Flags has restructured in many ways in recent years, one of their changes has come to their Season Pass program. The chain is currently offering an All-Season Fast Lane upgrade for Season Passholders, which allows them to bypass the regular lines on select rides & attractions on each of their visits.

According to Six Flags, these passes are available in limited quantities and are “only valid for redemption exclusively by the registered Passholder. Once Fast Lane is linked to a Season Pass, it is non-transferable. In order for benefits to be redeemed, the Season Pass must be used for admission on the same date.”
Reading that got us thinking, what if Disney could offer something similar as an Annual Passholder perk?

Now, look, it’s a given that Disney couldn’t offer that exact same perk given the obvious operational and infrastructural differences between Disney and Six Flags, but perhaps they could have access to include Lightning Lanes for a specific time period during the day, or perhaps weekdays during off-peak seasons/non-blacked out dates? Adding these types of additional Lightning Lane perks — even as an upgrade — could be a game-changer.

Of course, even without any additional Lightning Lane perks, there’s still plenty available for Disney World APs, including:
- Standard Theme Park Parking is included.
- Park Hopping (the ability to visit more than one park per day) is included.
- Discounts of up to 20% on select dining, merchandise, and activities (such as select tours, recreation options, and spa treatments). Annual Passholders are required to show a form of identification along with the portion of the My Disney Experience app that shows they are an Annual Passholder (instead of their physical Passholder card) in order to receive these discounts.
- Access to V.I.Passholder Support at (407) WDW-PASS or (407) 939-7277 from 7AM – 11PM EST or online.
- Exclusive merchandise for Passholders, such as Passholder-exclusive MagicBands and Passholder-exclusive items at EPCOT’s seasonal Festivals. (You can see ALL of the exclusive merchandise that is available ONLINE here!)
- Passholders who have connected their My Disney Experience account with their Annual Pass will get a unique color and sound sequence when using their MagicBands to enter the parks!
- Each Disney World theme park often has an exclusive dedicated entrance for Annual Passholders!
- Passholders are eligible for “Good-to-Go” days, which do not require a Park Pass reservation and do not count against your Park Pass reservation allotment. Disney notes that “the theme park reservation calendar will be updated periodically and will show Passholders select days when they may visit a Disney World theme park without needing a theme park reservation.”
- Savings on tickets for seasonal events, including Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and Jollywood Nights.

Believe it or not, Disney could take a lesson on a NEW AP perk from Six Flags! Stay tuned to AllEars for more theme park takes!
