3 Things We’re Begging You to Stop Packing in Your Disney World Carry-On

Packing for Disney World sounds easy…and then you go to actually DO it and realize that there’s a lot more to it than you may have realized.

Packing is easier said than done!

We’ve been there countless times, and sometimes when it’s been a hot second since we’ve been to the parks (for those on our team who don’t live in the state), we find ourselves in that pickle once again. That’s why we’re here to help! If you’re packing for a trip soon and you’re debating what you need to pack in your carry-on vs your personal item or your checked bag, you’ve likely found yourself feeling a little lost. While what’s best for you to pack and where is ultimately up to you, our recommendation is to NOT pack these three items in your carry-on.

When it comes to packing ears for your vacation, we know it’s tempting to have them where they’re most accessible, but let’s be real — squished ears are even WORSE! Personally, we recommend using the Mouse Ears Travel Case and packing them in your checked bag!

Yes, this is a bag solely dedicated to your ears, and it’s the perfect size to make sure they don’t accidentally get smushed between your other items. If you’ve got them shoved in your carry-on or personal item, you may arrive at the parks to find that they’ve been misshapen, or worse, broken, and that’s the last thing you want, especially at the START of your vacation!

Speaking of ears, the price of them in the parks and on the Disney Store website is often more than some guests are willing to spend. We totally get that! If you’re looking for some ears that are cheaper but still made well, we recommend checking out the ODOCARE Handmade Mouse Ears!

These are adorable, are a classic “Disney” style, but we’ll be honest — we found that these were more comfortable than many actual Disney ears, especially when it comes to the headband. It’s softer, doesn’t squeeze your head as much, and yes, it’ll fit perfectly in that ears packing case!

Toiletries can go either way — for some of them, such as makeup, hairbrushes, shampoo, and conditioner, and other items you may not actually need until later in your trip, we suggest packing them into your checked bag into a bag that can hold everything you need, like the BAGSMART Travel Toiletry Bag!

This thing has SO many pockets of multiple different sizes, so you really can easily fit everything you need. We’ve used it for countless trips, and while it’s a larger bag, it ends up helping us SAVE space, since the one bag fits all we need, and it keeps us from having to split things up into two bags. However, if there are any items that you know you need to have with you in the next 24 hours or so (just in case your bag gets lost), we do recommend keeping those in your personal item!

With so much talk about carry-on bags, you may be sitting here going, “Okay, but I don’t even have one of those that I love.” We can help with that too – we’re MASSIVE fans of the Taygeer Travel Backpack!

We love that this one also has tons of pockets to fit all that you need (talk about making the most of each and every pocket), and it’s also got buckles on the side to help you fit into that carry-on bag size policy the airlines have. It’ll fit under your seat or in the overhead bin easily, and we adore that you can wear it like a regular backpack, or by the strap on the side, so it’s most like a large purse. We’re suckers for versatility!
