The Future of Disney Cruise Line Looks Like A LOT More International Ports

With the Disney Adventure setting sail out of Singapore and knowing there are more Disney Cruise Line ships on the way, there’s one question that has been posed many times — will the new ships set sail from ports in the U.S., or internationally?

Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The Walt Disney Company, Hugh Johnston, just recently sat down at the MoffettNathanson’s Media, Internet & Communications Conference and talked about the future of the company in many different areas, including Disney Cruise Line. What we learned? It looks like we’ll be seeing A LOT more Disney Cruise sailings from international waters in the near future.

To start out, we think it’s important to mention that Disney Cruise Line is doing very well as a whole, hence the decision to add more ships to the fleet. Hugh Johnston mentioned that Disney Cruise Line’s capacity utilization (the fill rate on their ships) is just as high in 2026 as it was last year, despite all of the new capacity that has been added in. That’s quite the feat!

He continued on to talk about how the company is beginning to put ships outside of their traditional ports, which are all located inside the United States. The Disney Adventure in Singapore is double the size of any Disney Cruise ship before it, and seeing as they sold out a season of that ship in just a handful of days, that’s a great indication that there’s absolutely an interest in sailing with Disney Cruise Line from ports outside of the U.S.

Johnston continued on to say that this shows that not only is Disney Entertainment, such as movies in theaters and TV shows available on Disney+, popular in other countries, but Disney experiences, such as Disney Cruises, are also extremely popular as well. Seeing that it’s doing well for them, and we know that there are more cruise ships on the way (like the Disney Believe coming in late 2027), it’s very likely we’ll see more ships at international ports.
