Only Real Disney Adults Run Here at 9 AM in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

If you’re rope-dropping Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you may be tempted to run straight to Slinky Dog Dash, Rise of the Resistance, or maybe even Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

Mando and Grogu

However, if you’re a Star Wars fan, there’s somewhere else you need to head the moment the park opens, because it could get you an experience like no other. Head straight to Galaxy’s Edge, but DON’T hop on a ride. Instead, just stand around and wait for a few minutes — it’ll be worth it!

Over in Galaxy’s Edge, you’ll find characters roaming around at different times of the day. While roaming characters are pretty common in Disneyland, this is one of the few areas in Disney World you’ll find this happening, so it’s pretty special!

Stormtroopers

The difference between roaming characters and character meet and greets is that meet and greets have specific lines and locations they take place in each day. With roaming characters, there is no line that forms (in fact, one isn’t allowed to form), so if you want a picture, you’ll have to jog up and snag it quickly, but these characters have to stay on the move, so there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to get a photo WITH them.

Kylo Ren and Stormtroopers

Oftentimes, it’s hard to grab photos with the roaming characters in Galaxy’s Edge. The Stormtroopers move pretty fast and rarely stop for photos, and the Mandalorian and Grogu are usually slammed, so if you’re even close enough to get a photo, you’re considered lucky. However, we just found a way around this you may want to use on your next trip — rope drop the characters in Galaxy’s Edge!

Chewbacca and the BDX Droids

We did this just recently, and were shocked by how different the character interactions were! We noticed that the Stormtroopers were willing to pose with more people before moving on, Vi Moradi was just roaming around and hollering “Bright Suns!” at everyone without anyone near her, and Mando and Grogu only had like one family by them (which we haven’t seen before — he’s usually SLAMMED).

Galaxy’s Edge

While meeting characters isn’t a big priority for some people, if you know you’d love to have some really awesome interactions with your favorite Star Wars peeps, this is 100% the time to go do it. It’s also cooler than in the middle of the day, so you likely won’t feel as overheated standing out and waiting, and the characters also won’t be feeling that same heat just yet.

We’re always here to bring you the latest and greatest Disney World tips, tricks, and news, so stay tuned to AllEars!
