Disney World is the Most Magical Place on Earth… but not if you bring the wrong stuff.

You might think you’re being practical—or clever—by packing certain things for your park day, but there are a few items that Cast Members wish guests would just leave at home. Not only can they slow down security lines, but some of them flat-out aren’t allowed inside the parks at all. If you’re heading to Disney World soon, here are a few things Cast Members are begging you to stop bringing with you.
Selfie Sticks
This one’s been banned for years, and yet… they still show up. We get it—capturing the perfect photo in front of the Castle or Spaceship Earth is a priority for a lot of guests. But selfie sticks are a no-go at Disney World. They’re not allowed in the parks at all, and for good reason. Safety is a big deal at Disney, and swinging around a metal pole in a crowd? Not exactly safe.

Selfie sticks can also mess with ride operations. People have literally tried to sneak them onto attractions, causing rides to stop entirely. So if you’re hoping to get that picture-perfect moment, just stick with your arm, a friend, or a tripod that complies with park rules (they exist!). It’s not worth the hassle—or the confiscation at bag check.
Wagons
We’ve seen some creative stroller hacks over the years, but wagons (and especially those wagon-style strollers that look like tiny tanks) are not allowed. Disney updated their rules a while back, and wagons—whether you pull or push them—didn’t make the cut. That includes stroller wagons with seats and cupholders that are basically SUV substitutes for kids.

Yes, they’re convenient. Yes, your kid loves it. But navigating a crowd with one of those takes up way too much space, and it creates bottlenecks that frustrate everyone, including Cast Members trying to keep things moving. Stick to standard-size strollers that fit within Disney’s posted dimensions. Trust us, you’ll move faster, and no one will side-eye you when you’re trying to squeeze through a parade crowd.
Your Vape or Cigarettes (Outside of Designated Areas)
You can smoke at Disney World. You just can’t smoke anywhere you want. Each park has clearly marked designated smoking areas, and that’s the only place where cigarettes—or vapes—are allowed. Lighting up or puffing clouds in a ride queue, restaurant, or walkway is a big no from Cast Members (and from most guests around you, too).

Disney enforces this one hard. Cast Members are trained to spot it and will ask you to move to the designated area, or in some cases, even escort you out of the park. No one wants to have that awkward conversation, and no one wants to smell your vape while waiting for Pirates of the Caribbean. If you need a break, take a minute to find a smoking area on the map—you’ll save yourself a lot of trouble.
So, What Can You Bring?
Reusable water bottles? Yes. Ponchos? Always. Sunscreen? Please! There’s a lot that does make your trip easier and more comfortable—but the items listed above just don’t make the cut.
At the end of the day, Cast Members are trying to keep things safe, smooth, and enjoyable for everyone. Following these guidelines helps them do their job (and keeps your day stress-free). If you’re ever unsure whether something’s allowed, check the official Disney World site before you pack it.
