Why You Should Update the Disney World App NOW

Are you fully prepared for your next Disney World vacation?

Magic Kingdom

It’s true that the planning portion of your Disney World trip can make or break your vacation. However, that doesn’t mean you should overlook the planning you still have to do once you’re actually at the Disney Parks. The My Disney Experience app is the BEST tool for managing your time and keeping absolutely everything organized while you’re on vacation as long as you do one little thing…

The My Disney Experience app is your center for dining reservations, Lightning Lane purchases and reservations, mobile orders, theme park tickets, mobile checkout, PhotoPass, and more when visiting Disney World. Although this app makes life easier, like all mobile apps, it’s most effective when it’s up-to-date.

The app updates frequently and we were recently notified to update ours. The notification was labeled as “Important Information” and read, “To take full advantage of all of the features of the My Disney Experience app, we encourage you to upgrade to the latest version.”

Specifically, this app update “fixed bugs and improved overall app performance,” according to the app store. As Disney World is constantly evolving, the app must keep up. The app can glitch from time to time so it’s important on your end to also stay up-to-date.

We’ve seen updates in the past include a car locator, water bottle refill station locator, functionality improvements, and more, so it’s probably a good idea to take the app’s advice and make sure you always have the current version.

With Lightning Lane Premier Pass about to debut at Disney World, don’t be surprised to see another update come out pretty soon!

Lightning Lane Premier Pass will offer guests the opportunity to skip standby lines and use Lightning Lanes instead, giving them access to every participating attraction once per day at the Disney Parks. It’s not cheap and will be limited in availability when it rolls out on October 30th, 2024, but we’ll be bringing you comprehensive coverage and tell you everything you need to know about the new service — including how it interacts with the My Disney Experience app.

  1. I’m so frustrated with the app lately. I have an older phone and cannot update the app since it requires iOS 16 and my phone isn’t supported anymore. I can’t justify spending $100s for a new phone just so I can get this app to work better. *sigh*
