The My Disney Experience app is a great tool for planning your upcoming Disney World trip.

On the app, you can make dining and park pass reservations (for those who need them, including Annual Passholders and military Salute ticket holders), keep track of hotel reservations, and book your Lightning Lane selections in advance. Anyone staying at a Disney World hotel can make Lightning Lane selections up to seven days in advance, while all others can make their selections three days in advance. However, something odd happened to me recently when preparing to make my Lightning Lane selections for an upcoming trip!
Now that Genie+ has become Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass, you can make 3 Lightning Lane selections in a theme park, in advance of your visit and choose available times as you make your selections. From there, as you use each selection on the day of your visit, you can use the My Disney Experience app for availability to make an additional selection.

These advance purchase windows will let guests secure some of their priority rides and experiences to work around any existing dining reservations they may have already secured and any other plans they may need to consider. Those who can choose their Lightning Lanes seven days in advance may have a wider variety of rides and times to choose from than those who can’t choose their selections until three days in advance.

When you’re within your planning window (either 7+ days for resort guests or 3 days for non-resort guests) at 7AM (ET), you’ll be able to select up to three Lightning Lane Multi-Pass experiences per day of your trip.
I am planning a Disney World vacation for later this month and was getting ready to make my Lightning Lane selections seven days in advance because I am staying at a Disney World hotel with my family. The app showed me listed on the hotel reservation, so I thought all was good to go for the seven-day window.

However, the day before our seven-day window opened, we looked at the Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass screens on the app just to confirm that our window would indeed be opening as it should, and I noticed that it did not have my window opening at the seven-day mark. This seemed very odd since the app showed me on the hotel reservation, but it was giving me the three-day window date as if I didn’t have a Disney World hotel reservation.
Another thing I noticed was that it didn’t show my Jasmine character icon on the Lightning Lane screen like it did on the hotel reservation screen, which was likely an indication that something wasn’t correct.

So, I hopped on the phone with Disney World Guest Services. Unfortunately, the wait for Guest Services was a 161-minute wait! 😱 Instead, I decided to chat with a Guest Services agent on the Disney World website. Within 10 minutes, the agent had fixed the problem. They saw that I, indeed, was on the hotel reservation and told me to refresh my app. As soon as I did that, all was correct! I could make Lightning Lane selections seven days out from my trip, AND my character was showing up correctly.

It’s possible that there was a simple reason why my dates weren’t showing up correctly. Perhaps because I was added to the hotel reservation by someone else in my family on their app, my profile was attached weirdly. It can sometimes happen that linked profiles are actually two separate profiles for the same person instead of one profile linked between two apps (which happened to two other members of my party between my dad’s and my apps).
So, if you’re planning a Disney World vacation with multiple parties and linking all your profiles together, know that weird glitches can happen. Honestly, weird glitches can happen no matter how you’re planning on the Disney World app (it is technology, after all).

If weird glitches like this happen, know that Disney World Guest Services are a great resource and are willing to help. You can either call or chat with them on Disney World’s website. If something doesn’t seem to look right or work correctly, give them a shout-out!
