Are you going on a trip to Disney World soon?

You’ll want to check out any refurbishments or construction going on in the parks so that you’re prepared for what might be closed during your trip. We’re going to check out ALL the closures that are scheduled to happen in Disney World for the rest of this year. So if your trip is coming up in the next few months, read on to see what you need to plan for.
Disney World has a lot of projects in the works right now, including a couple of BIG rides. But what we’re looking at here are existing rides, attractions, hotels, and restaurants that are usually available, but they’ll be temporarily closed sometime before the end of this year. Let’s start in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Animal Kingdom
The only ride with a scheduled closure in Disney’s Animal Kingdom this year is Kali River Rapids. This popular attraction is closing for a refurbishment starting on November 1st.

This ride normally shuts down for bit each year for maintenance. This time, it’s supposed to be closed through mid-December. The calendar is showing that it will be closed through December 15th at least (although it could be longer, since the calendar doesn’t show the dates past that yet).

Another thrill ride in Animal Kingdom, Expedition Everest, is closing for a LONG time, but not until next year.

So if you’re looking for a fun, fast-paced ride in Animal Kingdom in November, check out Expedition Everest, Avatar Flight of Passage, or even Dinosaur.
Hollywood Studios
Some attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios haven’t returned to the park yet. The Voyage of the Little Mermaid show is temporarily unavailable, and it doesn’t have a reopening date yet.

Fantasmic! is another popular show that hasn’t come back, and we’re not sure when we could see it again. We noticed some construction happening over there last month, so it’s possible that the show will have some changes when it does return. One show that finally has a reopening date is the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. This show will return on December 19th this year.

Magic Kingdom
In Magic Kingdom, there are a couple of closures happening before the end of this year. One, however, is an ongoing refurbishment. The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for a while now.

Construction on the upcoming TRON Lightcycle Run ride interrupted the Railroad tracks over in Tomorrowland. As a result, this attraction will probably not be running until TRON construction is finished. We’re not sure when the roller coaster will open, but from what we’ve seen, it’s not quite ready for guests.

Our guess is that the TRON roller coaster won’t open this year, which means the Walt Disney World Railroad will probably remain closed as well.

Another attraction that’ll be gone for a while is Mickey’s PhilharMagic. This attraction is getting a new scene, inspired by Disney Pixar’s Coco.

Mickey’s PhilharMagic will be closed from October 11th through November 11th, and you can watch it with the new scene starting November 12th.

We’re so excited to see “Un Poco Loco” join the rest of the scenes in this attraction. It’s already arrived in Disneyland, so you can check it out here!

That’s it for the scheduled closures for attractions in the Disney parks, so now let’s look at hotels and restaurants around Disney World.
Resorts
Both Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort have construction going on in their lobbies right now.

Both of the projects are expected to last through late October of this year.

You can still check in there, at other desks or temporary check-in areas, or you can use the My Disney Experience app to head straight to your room when you arrive.

Two hotels that haven’t reopened yet are set to return this year: Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside Resort will reopen on October 14th, and Port Orleans – French Quarter will reopen on October 28th.

Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort was supposed to reopen on December 9th, but its return has been pushed back indefinitely.

Disney said the delay was because of some new refurbishments coming to the hotel.
Restaurants
Several restaurants in EPCOT are closed right now, and none of them have return dates yet:

Also, the Neighborhood Bakery in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is closed, and we’re not sure yet when it will reopen.

Remember that Disney World sometimes closes rides, attractions, or other areas unexpectedly (due to technical issues, weather, etc.), so keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app during your trip. If any of the attractions, hotel, or restaurants get updated timelines, we’ll be sure to let you know!
