It’s been well over a year since Disney World reopened after closing temporarily at the beginning of the COVID-19 global pandemic, but many restaurants and resorts have yet to reopen.
Most recently, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney’s All-Star Music Resort welcomed guests back, but there are still three hotels that remain closed. And, it looks like guests will have to wait a bit longer to return to one.
According to a notification shared with Disney Travel Agents, Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort will not reopen on December 9th as originally announced.
Instead, Disney will be keeping the hotel closed to “refresh the Sports theme area” and will announce an opening date at a later time.
Guests who currently have a room booked at All-Star Sports will receive an email from Disney soon with instructions on how to modify their stay at no additional charge.
Of course, we’ll continue to keep an eye out for updates and share any additional details on the renovations and reopening. And, in the meantime, be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for more of the latest Disney news and updates!

Have you ever stayed at Disney’s All-Star Resorts? Let us know in the comments!
Hey Molly it’s Brad … The Mouse maybe be magical but has to deal with building supply shortages like the rest of us, we’re doing a roofing job on our horse barn and getting roofing supplies is hard right now … I can imagine trying to wrangle up what’s needed to do all those hundreds of rooms. We like the All Star’s Music (an your tour an room update video) and plan to go down and stay there next year for ’22 Flower & Garden. So I understand why it can take longer.
Steers customers to book at other resorts when values are all booked. Brilliant !
All Star Sports is on of the least popular resorts so this is completely understandable!!!
Hmmm….this sounds to me as if the number of bookings that Disney thought would happen are not proceeding as planned and they are keeping the All-Star Sports resort closed as a cost cutting move.
You’re probably right. I’m hoping that the reason people are staying away is because of the prices and not just back to school time. I really hope people are protesting with their wallets.
