PHOTOS & VIDEO: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Reopens in Disney World

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge — Jambo House has officially reopened to guests!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

While the resort had been reopened for Disney Vacation Club Members over at Kidani Village, the rest of the hotel has been closed to general guests for almost a full year and a half. But, things have slowly been coming back, as both Boma — Flavors of Africa and Victoria Falls Lounge reopened recently, and today we’re taking you along with us to check out what it’s like inside the fully reopened resort!

Lobby

When we first arrived at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge — Jambo House, we were greeted with a “Jambo” (it means hello in Swahili!) from Cast Members and stepped right into the main lobby area where check-in is located.

But, don’t just skip past the lobby when you’re visiting here — there are tons of interesting and unique artifacts to explore in the lobby!

There are lots to check out in the lobby!

And, of course, there’s nothing quite like that natural lighting that comes from the two-story windows at the back of the lobby.

After roaming around the lobby for a few minutes, we stepped outside to check out what makes this resort one-of-a-kind — the animals!

Let’s see what the animals are up to outside!

Here you can find zebras, giraffes, birds, and more roaming the expansive area, which can make for a great activity without even having to head into the parks.

Zebras!

Just keep in mind that not every room here has a view of the savanna, so you’ll want to be sure that you book the correct room if you’d like to be able to watch the animals from your balcony. And, if you happen to have a room without a view, there are plenty of other areas to watch the animals around the resort too!

Dining

Many of the dining locations have reopened for guests to enjoy including the Quick Service restaurant, the Mara, which offers up breakfast, lunch, and dinner (including grab-and-go Zebra Domes)…

…plus Victoria Falls Lounge, Maji Pool Bar, and Uzima Springs Pool Bar are also serving up some small bites and drinks.

And, if you’re looking for something a bit fancier, Boma — Flavors of Africa has reopened with a breakfast and dinner buffet…

…and over at Kidani Village, both Sanaa and the Sanaa Lounge are available.

Just keep in mind that Jiko — The Cooking Place and the Cape Town Lounge and Wine Bar are both still closed.

Shopping

Of course, there are a few shops that are available for guests as well, so you can stop into Johari Treasures at Kidani Village…

…or Zawadi Marketplace at Jambo House to grab packaged snacks, first aid materials, and other Disney souvenirs.

Recreation

And, if you find yourself looking for a break from the Florida heat, both pools have reopened at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge as well.

Time for Some Fun in the Sun!

Well, that’s it for our first look inside the resort on its opening day! We’ll continue to keep an eye out for updates on additional dining options that may become available in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge in the future and more.
