Epcot Construction Update: Go Away Green, Random Merch Booths, and Signs of Progress!

Welcome to Epcot, the Experimental Prototype Construction (site) of Today, where fences and walls are part of the charm! We’re sharing a construction update to help you plan your upcoming visits to this park-in-progress!

Happy holidays from Epcot! You get construction!

Awesome Planet Sign in Epcot’s Land Pavilion

First up, we’re making a stop in the Land pavilion where a new film — Awesome Planet — will begin edu-taining guests on January 17. Just a few weeks ago, a temporary sign went up for the attraction

…and now a permanent sign is up! This one is three-dimensional but otherwise pretty simple. Just like the temporary one, there’s a bit of a projection going on, and now we can see it’s our awesome planet!

In fact, this is reminiscent of the Awesome Planet poster Disney released.

We can’t wait to check out the new show, and we’ll be on hand in just under a month to experience it and bring you some highlights!

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind exterior work continues.

We are curious what the entrance to the new attraction will look like — and how much of the layout from Ellen’s Energy Adventure will be maintained. From the looks of it, the front and left side of the pavilion are getting a revamp.

Space 220 Restaurant Progress

Space 220, set to open in February 2020, is maintaining its secrecy behind the trees — except for that go-away green wall!

World Showcase Pathway Restrooms

The new restrooms being built on the path between Future World and World Showcase (located very close to Refreshment Port) are coming along. From the looks of it, the trim work is painted (previously it was white), and the whole structure seems to be a more muted shade of mustard yellow. We expect this location to open relatively soon, but Disney hasn’t released a date.

Temporary Starbucks Location

And right next door, the soon-to-open temporary Starbucks location was behind fencing as of yesterday. We’ll be back on-site later today to check it out!

Festival-Style Booths in Future World

Meanwhile in Future World, we spotted several of these small booths — the type used during Epcot festivals for merchandise. Since we’re in the middle of Festival of the Holidays and a few weeks away from Festival of the Arts, we’re curious what these will be used for.

Regal Eagle Revealed (Sort of)

We spotted Regal Eagle minus its protective tarps for the first time. There’s not a lot to report… which is a little disconcerting. Regal Eagle is set to open this month (no specific date released), but it appears the exterior siding isn’t complete yet. We’ll watch this space for clues as to an impending opening, but for now, it appears to be off in the future.

Regal Eagle Progress

And that’s it for now! We’re stopping in to check out construction progress at Epcot regularly, since the Park is a bit of an obstacle course of walls and fencing right now. So check back to keep track of everything that’s happening at the park!
