I am LOVING that any time the amazing AllEars editors have a post about the Disney World Skyliner they assign it to ME because they know I LOVE IT.

There are multiple different modes of free (!!!) transportation around Disney World — Buses, Monorails, Ferries, oh my! There’s only one problem though: most of these modes of transportation all have different hours. And when one of my coworkers recently visited the parks, she had an experience with Skyliner hours that I REALLY don’t want anyone else running into.
Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios have separately ticketed After Hours events throughout the year that allow guests to experience the parks at much lower capacity for a few hours late into the night.

In addition to getting to experience rides at low wait times, you can also experience select meet and greets and get FREE snacks (Mickey ice cream bars, popcorn, soda, and bottled water) throughout the event!

However, getting back to your hotel can be a little difficult since you’re out so much later than the majority of park guests! When my coworker asked the Skyliner Cast Member before the event began, she was told the Skyliner would close an hour after park close. Thinking this meant an hour after the After Hours event ended, she figured she was all set!

Well…that’s not what happened. The Cast Member actually meant the Skyliner closed a hour after REGULAR park close, which is hours BEFORE the After Hours events ends. While she was able to get a bus back to her hotel, it was a little frustrating to have to walk ALL the way from the Skyliner station to the buses when it’s already late at night and you’re just wanting to get back and sleep.

Miscommunications like this happen frequently, so if you are doubting something, you can always ask another Cast Member or check the My Disney Experience App! However, we always recommend having a backup transportation plan just in case so you’re not caught completely off guard.
