The rest of 2021 is going to be a very busy season for Walt Disney World!

If Disney Park Pass availability calendars and hotel reservations are to predict anything, we’re expecting some big crowds in the next few months. It’s no surprise, with the holidays and the 50th Anniversary coming up. However, what IS surprising is which theme park may be pretty empty this fall!
Hollywood Studios Has Been Disney World’s Most “Popular” Park
Over the past few months and years, Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been a very popular choice for tourists visiting Disney World. It’s typically the park that’s the most difficult to get into; Park Passes book up months in advance for particularly busy days.

But why is it so difficult to get in? Well, Hollywood Studios is home to some of the hottest attractions across the entire property! Here alone, you’ll find Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (with Rise of the Resistance!), Toy Story Land, and the relatively new Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

And not only is it home to the popular things to do, but it’s also one of the smaller theme parks, land-wise, so the capacity is lower than places like EPCOT and Animal Kingdom. That means that reservations fill quickly and guests are more likely to have trouble getting in.

Do Other Parks Have More to Offer This Fall?
Even though Hollywood Studios has the new rides and lands, Disney World’s other parks have some very tempting offers throughout the rest of this year. Magic Kingdom will be home to celebrations for both Halloween and Christmas, including special decorations and two different After Hours events!

Magic Kingdom is also hosting the majority of the festivities for the 50th Anniversary. Here you’ll find a special cavalcade during the daytime and the new nighttime fireworks show, Disney Enchantment — both starting on October 1st.

Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, another new show is starting October 1, a daytime performance called Disney KiteTails. The show will feature soaring windcatchers, 3D kites, and Disney music, all in the Discovery River Amphitheater. And after dark, you’ll be able to check out special lighting and projections on the Tree of Life for the 50th Anniversary and Christmas.

Then, at EPCOT, the International Food & Wine Festival will continue until November, with the Festival of the Holidays starting shortly after. On October 1, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, La Creperie de Paris, and the rest of the France Pavilion expansion will open to the public as well. At night, you can check out Spaceship Earth’s new lighting and the upcoming nighttime spectacular, Harmonious!

Will Hollywood Studios Be LESS Popular?
So with all the things going on, will Hollywood Studios be less popular throughout the rest of this year? If you take a look at the Disney Park Pass calendar, you’ll find that the park is still filling up for the busiest days of the year, such as during holiday weeks.

But just because the park fills up during those particular days and weeks doesn’t mean that it’ll keep its crowds throughout the end of the year. School breaks are typically filled with guests who don’t get to come to the parks as often and therefore may prioritize the new rides and lands over the limited-time celebrations.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see how the popularity of Hollywood Studios during the “off-season” compares to the popularity of the park during the busiest days of the year. It’s highly possible that frequent guests may skip visiting Hollywood in favor of stopping by the other parks that have more exciting seasonal offerings.

Whether the park is just as busy as ever or it loses its top-ranking spot for a few months, we’ll make sure to keep you updated on what things are like.
