All four Disney World parks are officially open!

While we’ve been visiting the attractions, checking out Quick Service dining, and watching new entertainment, we’re also taking a look at all the brand new merchandise!
We’ve been visiting many gift shops around Disney World to give you all the information about the health and safety procedures that have been implemented.

Ahead of their reopening dates, we’ve been curious to see how shopping might change during Disney World’s reopening. While we’ve experienced retail spots in Disney Springs and the Disney Resorts, we’re taking you with us to see the shopping modifications happening all over Walt Disney World!

Crowd Levels
While Disney World won’t be utilizing Virtual Queues at attractions(excluding Rise of the Resistance), we’ve seen them used at places like the World of Disney and the Marketplace Co-Op. In the parks, the same virtual line procedures will take place when crowds increase to capacity.
If the stores reach capacity, Cast Members will have the ability to turn on the store’s virtual queue, which guests will be able to sign up for and get a return time assigned.

Most gift shops are experiencing normal crowds. However, Splash Mountain fans came in droves for the Annual Passholder Preview and the line for the gift shop reached a whopping 4-hour wait. Guests were asked to put their names on a list and wait for a text message with a return time.

The most crowded area we’ve seen so far is in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. This isn’t too surprising considering the land is brand new and gift shops are abundant here!
Custom lightsaber building is not currently available at Savi’s Workshop. Guests can still purchase a Legacy Lightsaber outside the building and go inside to walk around the indoor area of the attraction. You must put your name in the virtual line with the intention of buying a lightsaber to enter. Social distancing markers are placed inside and outside of Savi’s.

Distancing Measures
Multiple locations across Disney World have limited the number of people visiting the stores when they’re open. The stores in the parks will be doing the same during the initial reopening phase.

Social distancing markers are placed outside the door for guests to stand on when the stores have reached capacity. The stores are arranged as a one-way street, meaning guests must enter and exit through designated entries and exits.

Signs reminding guests to keep a 6-foot distance are placed throughout the stores as well.

The Marketplace Outpost is having guests wait in line outside the entrance of the area. The shops are very small so they are limiting the capacity to one person at a time.

The Droid Depot has always used virtual queues to monitor lines. The building areas are now boxed off with tape to keep guests spaced out.

Dok Ondar’s Den of Antiquities is a small shop that has always limited capacity. Guests have been asked to stand outside and wait to enter since the land opened. A Cast Member has now informed us that Dok’s is limiting capacity to 26 people.

Shopping
Guests were asked to handle the products minimally as they shopped in the store. Dressing rooms in the Emporium were closed to reduce merchandise contact too. Although, guests were still allowed to try on hats at The Chapeau.

Check-Out
The check-out area was formatted like the stores we’ve seen in Disney Springs. Check-out markers are placed in front of registers so guests can wait for their turn behind the designated signs.

Plexiglass barriers were installed in front of each of the registers. Additionally, floor markers indicate the distance you should keep between you and other guests while waiting in line too.

While the parks start to reopen, we will keep our eyes open for new updates such as these. Be sure to follow along with us throughout the week as we inform you of new theme park procedures and reports.
