Disney World Files NEW Permits For Parks And Hotel Changes

We’ve been going to Disney World for over 15 years, and I don’t think I have ever seen it change this much at once!

Magic Kingdom is getting a major expansion, Hollywood Studios is developing two new lands, and Animal Kingdom is closing DinoLand. It’s a period of bittersweet change, and now more is on the horizon because we’ve just found several new permits for Disney World.

Another day, another new permit for Disney World changes! From hotel changes to theme park updates, Disney is covering their bases this week. Starting off at Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside, the Alligator Bayou section of the resort is getting some updates!

In three separate permits, Disney World Parks and Resorts filed Notices of Commencement with the Orange County regarding changes to several of the buildings. In the General Improvement section of the permits, the location of the work is listed at Alligator Bayou Building 16, Alligator Bayou Building 28, and Alligator Bayou Building 34.

The work for these rooms will be done with the contractor Colwill Engineering Electrical Inc. Colwill specializes in “comprehensive electrical contracting services.” This tells us that it’s mainly electrical work going on and now a major overhaul of the rooms, which feature a Princess and the Frog theme. The work is expected to be completed within a year of the filing date.

Animal Kingdom Lodge is also getting in on the permit fun! Disney’s Notice of Commencement details “general construction” to be done by Boyer Building Corporation. This company focuses on general contracting, consulting, construction, and program management. The expiration on this general construction ends on January 23rd, 2027. Currently, Disney is refurbishing guest rooms at Kidani Village from October 2025 until May 2026, so the work is likely connected to these changes. From May 2026 until January 2027, guest rooms at Jambo House will be undergoing refurbishment, so it could also be connected to that!

The next permit Disney filed is taking us over to Hollywood Studios for some minor work. In a Notice of Commencement, Walt Disney World Resorts filed a permit for general improvements in Galaxy’s Edge. The permit details a new restroom sign installation, which might not be the most thrilling update, but it’s certainly a necessity! We love theming, but we also love finding the restrooms easily when the time comes.

Finally, in Magic Kingdom, a few more updates are coming to Storybook Circus! This section of Fantasyland is updating its character meet and greet location, Pete’s Silly Sideshow, and its store. This new permit details general improvements as “Electrical Work” at 1272 Magic Kingdom Drive. This is the home of the Storybook Circus Sideshow Souvenirs Tent, which is the exit for Pete’s Silly Sideshow. The work is being done by Maddox Electrical Company, which is a company Disney has worked with in the past.
