PHOTOS: The Villains Land Expansion at Magic Kingdom Is FINALLY Taking Shape

Ok, nobody freak out — it’s ACTUALLY happening!

Magic Kingdom

We just got photos of construction being done for not one, but two of the brand-new lands that are coming to the Magic Kingdom. The day has finally come, and work is being done for Magic Kingdom’s massive project! Let’s take a look at the photos.

If you’re looking for a travel agent to help with your vacation, we recommend our friends at Mouse Fan Travel. They’re experts in the field with over 20 years of vacation planning experience, and they can help take a bunch of the stress out of the entire booking process for you!

Magic Kingdom will eventually be getting a Cars-themed land called Piston Peak, as well as a Villains Land. Piston Peak has already seen some construction work done so far, with the closure of Tom Sawyer Island and the removal of all the Rivers of America.

Construction in Magic Kingdom

We have seen a few different updates over time, and work continues on Piston Peak. Disney hasn’t announced any construction timeline, and they probably won’t for a while with a project this big.

Lots more to do

Don’t get us wrong, we’re super excited for Piston Peak, and we’re thrilled that work has been getting done on the project. However, we couldn’t help but keep asking when Villains Land would start getting built. Well, we don’t have to ask that question, because Disney has officially started!

Thanks to @bioreconstruct on X (formerly known as Twitter), we have brand-new aerial shots of work starting on Villains Land. In the photo above, you can see that land is being cleared behind the “it’s a small world” and Haunted Mansion show buildings in Magic Kingdom. Below, you’ll see a photo of land clearing and site preparation near the Haunted Mansion show building.

We knew Villains Land was going to be located beyond Big Thunder Mountain, so it is wild to see that land is being cleared all the way behind Haunted Mansion and “it’s a small world.” The land really is going to be THAT big! It doesn’t stop there, though, as we have even more aerial shots of Villains Land work to show you.

Disney Imagineering is doing a lot of land preparation right now, before they can start building anything.

We don’t have much news on Villains land right now. No news on an opening timeline, no news on what’s coming to the land, we’re just sitting in anticipation right now!

We know we’re ALL still waiting for those updates on Villains Land in terms of the details of what’s to come — but we’ll take this for now. After all, we can breathe a little easier knowing that Villains Land construction has finally begun!

Maybe we’ll get some news on the two new lands at this upcoming D23 Expo. After all, the two lands were announced at the last one, and it could be a good opportunity to share more on this Magic Kingdom expansion!
