You’ll Regret Going To Hollywood Studios On August 16th

When you’re headed to Disney World, planning can be super important!

Ride closures, construction, and after-hour parties can throw a huge wrench in your plans if they catch you off guard. After years of going to Disney World on the daily, we have learned that the hard way! Before going to Disney World this August, you need to know that one day you should avoid Hollywood Studios.

Ah, Hollywood Studios! The Disney park that lets you step into movies like Toy Story, Star Wars, and more. This park is known for its attractions and live entertainment, which have made the park a must-do on our Disney vacations.

If you also feel the same way, a day at Hollywood Studios can be one of the best of your trip. If you’re headed to the parks this month, you need to avoid Hollywood Studios on August 16th, 2025. According to the My Disney Experience app, the park is closing early at 6 PM. This park is normally open until 9 PM, so you’re losing 3 hours of park time and still paying for a regular park ticket.

It isn’t unusual for a Disney Park to close early. There can be several reasons for this! Depending on the season, you might experience several early closures thanks to after-hours events like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, which kicks off in Magic Kingdom on August 15th.

In Hollywood Studios, during the Christmas Season, you’ll see early closures thanks to Jollywood Nights. There could also be closures because of Cast Member appreciation nights, large corporations renting out the parks, and more. If you have noticed shortened park hours on the calendar, we recommend trying to go to a different park that day so you don’t lose out on any precious Hollywood Studios time.

We also recommend checking the Disney Park calendar to see if anything important is happening on the days of your trip. If a new entertainment offering is beginning, a new ride is opening, or a special event like an EPCOT festival is starting, the parks will most likely be packed. You might want to wait to plan your trip for after those opening or start dates.
