CONFIRMED: Disney World Adds Another Hotel to Its Refurbishment List

Well, it’s official, another refurbishment is underway at Disney World! Add this to the list of hotel closures.

There is seriously so much happening at Disney World construction-wise. A lot is going on with the parks, with the Piston Peak area in Magic Kingdom, the new Monsters, Inc. Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Pueblo Esperanza in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. However, what we’re here to talk about is not in the park; it’s a resort.

One of Disney’s most popular deluxe resorts, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, has been going through a refurbishment period for a few months. Earlier this year, on July 7th, Disney started refurbishing the Zebra Trail Terrace at the Lodge’s Jambo House. They’re near completion with the initial refurb, but Disney just confirmed they will be undergoing another refurbishment that takes them into next year.

The first refurbishment of Zebra Trail Terrace is expected to continue through mid-September of 2025, but Disney has yet to give an official completion date. We’re thinking it could just reopen without much notice.

As we mentioned before, this refurb is about to wrap up, but then Disney announced more refurb plans for the resort. On top of that, the second refurb is coming very shortly after, so it’ll feel like the resort has been seeing a very long update. This refurbishment is going to be a lot bigger, with the intention of refurbishing until 2027! Two years from now!

The refurbishment will begin in October of 2025, and guest rooms at Kidani Village at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge will be getting the FIRST updates. This refurb is expected to last through May 2026.

After that, refurbishment will take place at Jambo House in May 2026, and this will go through January 2027. We’re excited to see what these new rooms will look like with all the time that’s being put into them.

Despite some of the closures, we have some good news — during the refurbishment period, all amenities will remain available. There is a chance guests may still see or hear construction work.

If you have a Disney World vacation coming up and you want to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, make sure to mark some of these dates down. It may impact room availability, so just plan accordingly.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is just around the corner, so it’ll be interesting to see how the large crowds deal with all these closures going on across Disney World.
