NEWS: Disney Eliminates Part of Muppets Courtyard in Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is undergoing some pretty significant construction right now as Muppets Courtyard turns into the new Monsters, Inc. Land.

It’s been just under two months since the walls went up in front of Muppets Courtyard to begin the transformation, and we can still see past the walls pretty easily. That’s how we were able to find out that an iconic part of the land has officially been demolished!

The Stage 1 Company Store hasn’t been open for shopping since early 2020, but we did get to step inside briefly during last year’s Jollywood Nights event for the Muppets Christmas Carol photo op.

We had hoped for a few years that the store would reopen, but when the entire land was announced to be closing, we knew that wouldn’t be the case. As it turns out, it looks like it’s been one of the FIRST buildings demolished in the area.

Based on the concept art for the new Monsters, Inc. Monstropolis land, it looks like another building will be built in its place. We wondered if Disney would keep the structure and just retheme it, but now, we know a completely new building will be in its place. It also leaves us wondering if other buildings will be demolished as well. We can’t wait to see what changes!
