The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic

Epic Universe features five themed lands, including a brand-new Harry Potter land. We have spent a lot of time exploring the area, including Quincy spending an entire 10-hour day in this new land without leaving. And since we have had the opportunity to deep dive into this area, we are discussing the essentials you need to bring!

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic is Universal’s brand-new Harry Potter land located inside Epic Universe. This immersive land takes you to 1920s Paris and the wizarding area called Place Cachée. You also get to experience the 1990s British Ministry of Magic in the Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry attraction. Today, we are focusing on five essentials you need to bring to this new land. Let’s dive in!

Wand

While you can definitely still admire the beauty of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic without a wand, having a wand makes the experience 10x better! There are lots of interactive elements throughout the land that you need your wand to unlock. You can always snoop behind someone else with a wand, but where’s the fun in that? Casting your spell and seeing the effect is sure to make just about anyone smile with joy. There is something so fun about casting a spell and seeing a Niffler pop out of a suitcase.

Don’t forget a wand!

With the Second Generation Interactive Wands, you can also personalize your wand journey with the Universal Play app. You can always stop by Cosme Acajor Baguettes Magique to pick up a new wand or purchase your very first wand. You may even spot Cosme Acajor herself wandering around the shop helping customers!

Umbrella

This is a more practical essential as it gets HOT in 1920s Paris, and there is not a whole lot of shade to be found. We highly recommend packing along an umbrella to help shield yourself from the sun as much as possible. It will definitely make spellcasting more enjoyable and then you can spend more time window-shopping around town.

It gets warm and shady spots are slim!

Don’t forget to head into one of the restaurants for a quick bite and a chance to get out of the sun or stop into one of the stores for some AC and shopping. But, an umbrella will definitely save the day as you are exploring everything The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic has to offer!

Your Favorite Harry Potter Apparel

You are about to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic, so bring along your favorite Harry Potter apparel so you also look the part. The land is set in the wizarding section of Pairs, France called Place Cachée.

Place Cachée

While you are in Paris, you will spot exchange students wandering around from Hogwarts, Ilvermorny, and Beauxbatons, so you will still fit in wearing apparel from your Hogwarts or your Hogwarts house. Or you can also do a bit of shopping to grab some Beauxbatons apparel! Bonus: bring along your favorite beret. You are headed to Paris in the 1920s, so if you have a favorite beret, it will fit right in!

Don’t forget a beret!

Spending Money for Food and Souvenirs

From Butterbeer Crepes to gorgeous cakes from K. Rammelle, there are lots of food, drinks, and souvenirs that you might want to purchase while you are exploring. We definitely recommend bringing a bit of extra spending money when you are visiting the new Harry Potter land as you never know what might catch your fancy.

Butterbeer Crepe

There are new souvenirs from international wizarding schools, Auror souvenirs, new wands, and so much more to discover. While you don’t need extra spending money, you think you will be glad you budgeted a bit for a tasty treat or fun souvenir.

Your Best Conversation Skills

You never know who you might spot wandering around, so get those conversation skills ready! Exchange students from Beauxbatons, Ilvermorny, and Hogwarts can be spotted roaming throughout the land, and they are always up for a chat. Cosme Acajor can be spotted in the land as well. You will have the most luck finding her in her shop. Aurors can also be seen roaming, ensuring the area is safe and free from magic lawbreaking.

Important! Don’t Forget Your Wand Permit!

Speaking of Aurors, you will want to make sure you bring along your wand permit, it is required to have one if you wish to use a wand in 1920s Paris! Quincy had a bit of a run-in with the law during her visit to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic, so we want to remind you that you must carry your wand permit with you at all times. She wasn’t even using her wand and got into a bit of trouble. Luckily, they left her off with just a warning, but we wanted to pass that warning along to all of you.
