For the first time in forever, there are no Virtual Queues at Disney World.

Virtual Queues have been Disney World’s way of managing long lines when a new attraction opens. However, as time goes on and Disney believes that the line can be managed via a conventional standby queue, Virtual Queues stop being offered, and this is the case for two rides as of today!
Starting today, February 25th, both Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in the Magic Kingdom and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT will no longer offer Virtual Queue.

Virtual Queue was also offered when Rise of the Resistance, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and TRON Lightcyle / Run, but it was eventually phased out. Now that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Cosmic Rewind no longer have a Virtual Queue, that means there is no need to stress about waking up to join the queue at 7 AM or snag it at 1 PM (at least for now!).
We headed to both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT to see what a Virtual Queue-less Disney World looks like.

It was a rough morning for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, as the attraction was temporarily closed when the park officially opened. Eventually, the attraction opened for its first official day without a Virtual Queue.

When the attraction eventually opened, it seemed that Cast Members let those with Lightning Lane go through first, and shortly after, the line started to move for those waiting in standby.

The line was moving pretty fast, and we were shocked that Disney listed the wait time as 45 minutes almost immediately after the ride opened for the day. While this is the first time Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is stand-by during normal park hours, it is not the first time it has had a stand-by line option, as it was available with no Virtual Queue during After-Hours Events and parties.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on the First Day with no Virtual Queue
We have a feeling it will take some time for wait times to be projected accurately as the kinks of no Virtual Queue are worked out. As of 10:30 AM this morning, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure only had a 20-minute wait.

If you want to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure with a shorter wait, you can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass to skip the line.

In EPCOT, it was a different story for Guardians of the Galaxy as demand to ride the attraction with no Virtual Queue was high.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind holds the record for the attraction with the longest Virtual Queue, as it utilized the service for over 1,000 days. We confirmed with a Cast Member that the ride will be available for those participating in Early Theme Park Entry.

When we entered the park, Cast Members led those who wanted to get in line for Cosmic Rewind to ensure no one got hurt trying to rush to get a spot. When the park officially opened, we were shocked to see that Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure had a 55-minute wait, whereas Cosmic Rewind had a 45-minute wait. This made us think that maybe people were focused on rope dropping from the International Gateway entrance, but that soon changed.

By 9:10 AM, the line for Cosmic Rewind had extended past Space 220 and halfway to Connections Cafe. By 9:17 AM, the wait time was 50 minutes.

Within eight minutes, the wait time jumped all the way up to 170 minutes! And another eight minutes later, it dropped down to 135 minutes. Once again, we saw another drop in the time. By 9:40 AM, the My Disney Experience app, along with the sign outside the attraction showed a 110-minute wait.

Around 9:50 AM, the wait time started to hold at 85 minutes, which seems much more reasonable compared to a 170-minute wait. Just like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, it looks like it will take a bit of time to project wait times without Virtual Queue accurately.

If you are worried about a long wait at Cosmic Rewind but still want to ride the attraction, just like before, Lightning Lane Single Pass is still offered if you want to pay to skip the line.
