Are you ready to head into space?

Planning your Disney World vacation can be tough! Figuring out how to deal with brutal weather, finding the perfect packing list, and planning your perfect park days can be a lot. Luckily, when it comes to the most popular rides, I’ve ridden them hundreds of times and can tell you everything you need to know!
One of the most popular rides in Disney World is Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance! This ride is over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios inside Galaxy’s Edge.

During this attraction, Rey reveals the location of the resistance secret base before you’re captured by the First Order and you need to escape! This ride is popular for a reason and I am lucky enough to say I’ve ridden it over 100 times. Here are 3 things you need to know before hopping on this ride!

The first thing to know is this isn’t just a ride — it’s an experience! This ride is roughly 18 minutes long, but you aren’t in a ride vehicle the entire time. The Cast Members on the ride get to act out different roles as resistance members or even First Order officers.

You’re taken through different experiences and rooms before you ever get onto a ride vehicle. It’s incredible and makes the long lines worth it in my opinion. (If you want to skip these long lines, you’ll have to grab an Individual Lightning Lane.) I don’t want to spoil it for you, but this is a complete experience.

The second thing to know about this ride? It breaks down a lot. This attraction is a trackless ride — meaning it uses new technology and also has some amazing animatronics. Unfortunately, that means this new technology can be a little finicky.

The animatronics are often in various stages of working properly as well, so if you’re expecting to see a great Kylo Ren animatronic, you might be disappointed. We recommend riding this one as early as possible on your park day so that way you know you’ll get on it!

While I personally love ending the night on this ride, I know it’s a gamble when I do it. There have been several times that this ride closes and doesn’t reopen, so I missed my chance to ride.

Finally, the most important thing for “Star Wars” fans to know before riding is this ride takes place during the sequels. Now, all of the Galaxy’s Edge timeline is during the sequels so if you’re looking for the original characters, you’ll be sorely disappointed.

Guests will see characters like Rey, Fin, Poe Dameron, and even Kylo Ren! It’s a really exciting experience complete with amazing technology but for fans of the original series, it might not be enough. While we think all ‘Star Wars’ fans will be able to find something in this to enjoy, it’s important to have realistic expectations!

Overall, there are a lot of reasons I think Rise of the Resistance is one of the best rides in Disney World. Don’t forget to keep following AllEars for all of your Disney tips and tricks before your next vacation!
