If there’s one thing that’s certain about Disney World, it’s that something is always changing.
Construction just wrapped up on EPCOT’s newest attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t stumble upon construction walls in the park — there’s still a lot to go in the big transformation. And, it’s not just in the parks — there are multiple Disney World Resort hotels undergoing quite a bit of refurbishment too. It can be difficult to keep up with what’s closed from one week to the next, so let’s take a look at what’s going to be CLOSED in Disney World from May 29th through June 4th.Â
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
WALT DISNEY WORLD RAILROAD
If it seems like the Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for a while, that’s because it has! The attraction closed in 2018 so that construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run could begin.
We have spotted the train testing a few times, but chances are we won’t see the Walt Disney World Railroad reopen anytime soon — just like TRON.
BIBBIDI BOBBIDI BOUTIQUE
Over at Disney Springs, Magic Kingdom, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique remains closed as it has been since the 2020 closures.
Disney did announce that Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique would be reopening later this year — though they haven’t shared an official date just yet.

HARMONY BARBER SHOP
Did you know there’s a spot on Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom where you can actually get your hair cut? Well, technically not right now. Like Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, the Harmony Barber Shop has been closed since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. But, it won’t be closed much longer — it is officially reopening on July 31st, 2022.
You can make reservations beginning on June 28th for adult, children, and “My First Haircut” appointments!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Refurbishments
FINDING NEMO: THE MUSICAL
There’s a new show coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom — sort of! Disney’s Finding Nemo: The Musical has been closed for a long time to make way for a reimagined show called Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond.
The new show will include brand new music and even new characters from Finding Dory! Disney has shared that the show will debut sometime in summer 2022, but an exact opening date has not yet been announced.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Refurbishments
VOYAGE OF THE LITTLE MERMAID
Fans of The Little Mermaid are still waiting for Voyage of the Little Mermaid to reopen in Animation Courtyard. And, it could be a while longer before this show is back up and running!
Disney hasn’t shared any updates about what the future might hold for this show, but we’ll keep you posted with any news.
STAR WARS: LAUNCH BAY
What once was an oasis for meeting and greeting your favorite Star Wars characters is now just an escape from the heat with a few displays from the films.
While you can still go inside Star Wars Launch Bay, don’t expect to find any characters roaming around just yet.
FANTASMIC!
We were thrilled when Disney announced that Fantasmic! would be dazzling us once again, and while we know it’s going to come back later this year, we don’t know exactly when.
This show is being updated to include new characters, technology, and stunts that you can learn more about here.

Disney World Water Park Refurbishments
BLIZZARD BEACH
Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park remains closed for a lengthy refurbishment, and Disney still hasn’t announced when we can expect to hit the slopes once again.
For now, you can head over to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park to get your water thrills.

Disney World Resort Refurbishments
Note that none of the hotels on this list are fully closed. Each of them just has some refurbishments going on in certain parts of the resort so you’ll just want to steer clear of the areas where work is being done.
DISNEY’S GRAND FLORIDIAN RESORT
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is still open, but the Big Pine Key building (which is located near the main pool) is closed for renovations. The building will be transformed into 200 new DVC studios.
Disney shared that the construction should be wrapped up by the end of June, and reservations are open now for the Mary Poppins-themed rooms.

DISNEY’S POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT
The Grand Flo isn’t the only hotel undergoing renovations. A brand new building is being constructed at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort that will also include DVC villas!
Sadly, this meant we had to say goodbye to the beloved Spirit of Aloha dinner show as the new building will take its place. Disney expects the villas to be complete by late 2024.
DISNEY’S FORT WILDERNESS RESORT & CAMPGROUNDS
We are so close to being able to hoot and holler in Pioneer Hall once again, because Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is returning on June 23rd, 2022.
Reservations are open NOW for this stompin’ good time, so head over to the My Disney Experience app to book yours!
