PHOTOS & VIDEOS: Go Inside the Queue for EPCOT’s Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster!

The official opening of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT is just around the corner — May 27th to be exact! Over the past few weeks, we’ve gotten a peek at the gift shop, seen the inside of the ride building, and even previewed the cast member costumes for the attraction.

Today, we’re going INSIDE the queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind to bring you a first look!

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is located in the former Universe of Energy building in Future World, now dubbed the “Wonders of Xandar” pavilion, and it is BIG. If you didn’t know, Xandar is the planet that is saved in Guardians of the Galaxy. Approaching the queue from the outside, you’ll see that there is both a Standby entrance and a Lightning Lane entrance. When it opens this month, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will use a virtual queue and will be available for purchase as an Individual Lightning Lane.

The Wonders of Xandar is the newest pavilion in EPCOT and is a place where Terrans (a.k.a. the people of Earth) can learn more about Xandarians. In this pavilion, you will be able to learn all about the Xandarian way of life. Once you enter the building, you’ll walk into a vast area called the Galaxarium, where guests can view the entire galaxy.

We’re heading inside!

Here in the Galaxarium, Worldmind, the Xandarian supercomputer will narrate and provide context for some of the visuals that you are seeing. The idea for this area of the queue is to demonstrate the belief that everyone, both Terrans and Xandarians are “born of the same space dust.”

Guests will then move into the Xandar Gallery, where you’ll learn more about Xandar, including its culture, people, and heroes. This section of the queue features models of a Xandarian city as well as models of starships.

There’s a model city version of Xandar!

It also has examples of some of the clothes that the people of Xandar wear on their planet.

You’ll even get to hear and see excerpts from an episode of Good Morning Xandar that feature the Guardians of the Galaxy themselves.

The tour of the pavilion (or the queue) ends in the Phase Chamber. Here, guests will leave EPCOT and be transported to a Nova Corps Starcharter that is orbiting Earth. You’ll then learn about the Cosmic Generator, which is a Xandarian invention that allows you to travel quickly across long distances. This is where things the pre-show begins (featuring Terry Crews!).

Here’s what it looks like as you approach the boarding area for the Nova Corps Starcharter!

Our ride is here! We’ve made it to the loading area, and Cosmic Rewind’s first-of-its-kind Omnicoaster car is here to get us.

Once you’ve arrived on the Nova Corps Starcharter, things don’t go entirely according to plan, and you must help the Guardians of the Galaxy defeat Eson, the villain of the ride who has stolen the Cosmic Generator and wants to travel back in time to change the way history plays out.

If the attention to detail and immersive elements while you’re waiting in line are any indication of the roller coaster beyond the queue, we are in for another GREAT Disney attraction!
