The Dates You NEED to Know for Disney World in 2021

Disney World has SO MUCH going on this year that it’s sometimes difficult to keep up with all the events taking place.

But we’re giving you all the dates you need for your calendar early on. And we’re breaking down the biggest updates, events, and more that will be taking place in Disney World this year!

July 2021

July 1st

Fireworks came back to Disney World, folks! Over in the Magic Kingdom, the Happily Ever After fireworks began running nightly at 9:15 PM, and EPCOT Forever blasted off at 10 PM. And the parks are already looking VERY busy for their grand debut again as Park Passes have started to sell out for their returning dates already. Disney World has also extended its park hours in order to accommodate all the guests heading to see the fireworks.

However, not every fireworks show will be returning in Disney World at this time. We’ll have to keep you updated on what their comeback could mean for the rest of the entertainment around the parks!

July 2nd

As many resorts around Disney World continue to reopen, a few spots have actually been partially open. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn has been one such location as it’s been welcoming Disney Vacation Club Members back already. But the remainder of the resort officially reopened on July 2nd!

July 9th

As various Disney World restaurants have continued reopening to guests, we’ve been hoping for the return of ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. And it’s officially back as of July 9th! ‘Ohana is open throughout the day with all-you-can-eat breakfast and dinner options (including the amazing noodles and awesome drinks). Musical entertainment is also back for guests visiting the restaurant, too!

‘Ohana will reopen soon!

July 15th through November 20th

Although the EPCOT Flower and Garden will be coming to an end soon, the Food and Wine Festival will be starting soon instead! The event will kick off on July 15th and run all the way until November 20th with 32 booths. While there will be plenty of returning fan-favorite spots, 8 of the booths will be brand new this year!

But, Disney will be mixing things up for this year’s EPCOT Food and Wine Festival as 9 of the booths won’t open at the start of the festival. Instead, they will open later in the year in October, in order to bring even more guests into the parks during the Fall months. Live concerts will even be back during the festival too!

Late July

You might recall that Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has been closed for some time to undergo an extensive refurbishment. As the Monorail station and the entrance near their final updates, the hotel is getting closer and closer to its finished product. And, that will bring the NEW Moana rooms along with it, where a Pacific Ocean-colored palette and nods to the film will make everyone’s stay extra special.

Look at that splash of color!

As reservations recently opened to guests, we were able to see that the Moana rooms were available to book as early as July 19th. Although Disney World hasn’t confirmed that as the official opening date for the resort, there was the previous announcement the hotel would reopen in late July.

August 2021

August 10th through October 31st

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party isn’t happening again this year. BUT, the BOO Bash will be taking its place instead, giving guests a spooky event they don’t want to miss from August 10th through October 31st! The BOO Bash is different from Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party with more similarities to an After Hours event in the Magic Kingdom. There will still be plenty of entertainment and treats, even though there will be a shorter 3-hour run time (compared to the previous 5 hours) to go along with the $129 to $199 price tag.

However, there is a $10 discount available for Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club members. Tickets are already selling out quickly regardless, as we’ve seen the phone lines go down with the demand for tickets. Recently, more dates were added in September and October due to how many people are looking to attend the event! So, you’ll want to book soon online or by calling Disney directly!

August 26th

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is another resort that has been partially open to Disney Vacation Club members at the Kidani Village portion of the hotel. However, the rest of the resort will be welcoming guests back on August 26th! The rooms inside the lodge and at the Jambo House will be opening, as guests make their way back to the safari-inspired resort once again.

Summer 2021

The Jungle Cruise has also neared the completion of its updated refurbishment! Magic Kingdom’s hit attraction has remained operation as we’ve seen the new characters, scenes, and more put in place around the ride. But, the attraction will officially be completed in Disney World in the summer this year!

Jungle Cruise Updates

The latest updates will get rid of some of the older features that weren’t culturally appropriate in favor of new storylines that are more inclusive!

October 2021

October 1st

There’s a LOT of events taking place on October 1st, and we’re breaking them all down for you! The biggest feature of the day is the beginning of Disney World’s 50th anniversary, which will run for 18 months. The event will have an EARidescent color theme, which will be featured on Mickey and Minnie’s new outfits, Cast Member name tags, and Cinderella Castle’s decorations. The other park icons will receive makeovers as well with a lot of themed merchandise, food, and entertainment coming to the parks as well!

And, if this anniversary is anything like the others we’ve seen in the past, it’s going to be EPIC. We haven’t gotten too many details about what’s in store for the 50th anniversary just yet. But, we’ll have to keep you updated with more details soon! Still, you might want to book soon, because Park Passes have been filling up left and right already!

Magic Kingdom

While the 50th anniversary kicks off in Disney World, EPCOT will be hosting the grand opening of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and La Crêperie de Paris too! Remy’s has neared its completion as we’ve gotten sneak peeks inside the attraction, at the marquee, and more. When the attraction officially opens, guests will be able to shrink down to the size of a rat and travel through France! Next door, La Crêperie de Paris will also open with savory and sweet eats for guests with a table-service option or a quick-service window.

Also in EPCOT, the Food and Wine Festival will be adding its additional booths on October 1st. The 9 booths that will be opening include 6 returning favorites, like The Alps, Belgium, Brazil, India, Ireland, and Spain. Plus, there will be 3 new additions to the festival, including Kenya, Lobster Landing, and Mac & Eats.

Fall 2021

We’ve been waiting and waiting for Space 220’s opening for what seems like forever. The restaurant hasn’t received its official opening date just yet, but the timeline for the Fall has been named as the process of role hiring takes place! When it’s open, guests will be able to take an elevator up into “space” to dine at the space station. The lounge and restaurant will slowly rotate to give views of the surrounding area.

Of course, we’ll continue to update this information as more big dates and events are revealed for the rest of 2021 in Disney World! In the meantime, stay tuned with All Ears for the latest Disney entertainment and news you need to know!
