We can’t WAIT to see everything happening in the parks for Disney World’s 50th anniversary!
Along with Mickey and Minnie’s fabulous makeover, the park icons will also have an extra magical flair with decorations to celebrate the momentous occasion! We’ve already seen the first signs of progress on Cinderella Castle, but now we’ve got even MORE details about what the finished product will look like!
Zach Riddley shared the details about how the 50th anniversary transformation of Cinderella Castle was inspired by Disney Legend Mary Blair. You might recognize the name Mary Blair as the artist who helped create “it’s a small world” and the Grand Canyon Concourse Mural in Disney’s Contemporay Resort.
You can take a sneak peek at the visual designs and color scheme that Mary Blair used in the original Cinderella film now that they’ll be featured on the castle.
When it is complete, ribbons will wrap around the castle turrets as a nod to Cinderella’s pink gown before it became a blue gown.
Mary’s palette of blues, purples, and golds will be combined with the new EARidescence feature that will catch the Florida sunshine.
Cinderella Castle and the other park icons will receive their makeovers in time for Disney World’s 50th anniversary on October 1st. And, we’ll be sure to give you a look at ALL the festivities you’ll be able to find in the parks!

I am getting more and more excited. Those drawings look absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait to see how they are going to make the castle even more beautiful than it already is!!!!!!!!
Actually, in the animated feature, Cinderella’s gown was white. The parks made her dress blue, probably to sell merchandise.
