The popular Disney theme park is going through a lot of updates lately, and now, we have NEW updates on the highly anticipated rollercoaster inspired by Monsters Inc. Let’s check out construction together!

Thanks to @bioreconstruct on X, we have a NEW LOOK at construction on Monstropolis in Hollywood Studios. The land will feature a massive suspended coaster that will be the first of its kind. Disney announced that this ride will take place after the events of the film, which they first confirmed during D23 in August 2024.

A new land themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Monsters, Inc.” is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Taking place after the events of the film, Monstropolis needs humans’ laughter to power the city. Guests can even ride on a door like Mike and Sully in the iconic scene from the film with Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster.

After years of waiting and watching, the coaster has been slowly taking shape. These aerial overview photos show the current building frame for the suspended coaster, and it’s coming to life.

Based on the construction photos, there are multiple floors being developed in the show building. The track is also starting to be placed for the service floor of the ride.

Bioreconstruct shared that the highest supports are for the ride track in the first scene. When Disney first announced the coaster in 2024, Josh D’Amaro shared, The first time I saw Monsters, Inc., all I wanted to do was ride on one of those doors like Mike and Sulley. You’ll go into the factory and experience the first suspended coaster ever in a Disney park. Remember in the movie how those claws grab the doors and hoist them up into the air to take them away? We’re doing that, too. And you’re going along for the ride.

He continued to say, “You’ll be able to see the sights, hear the laughs, and zoom through the building just like James P. Sullivan (a.k.a. Sulley) and Mike Wazowski — via a door!” Disney also recently announced tons of details behind the land, which made it all feel more exciting. They confirmed the story behind the land is that monsters are celebrating H.U.M.A.N. Day, or “Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice” Day!

Disney shared, “Human guests will have the chance to explore the city, meet its citizens, taste unique cuisine, and step into the everyday world of monsters in a totally new way. For the first time, two worlds once separated are meeting face to scaly, furry, and fang-filled face – brought together not by screams, but by laughter.” They’ve also confirmed a new show is coming to the land, and Harryhausen’s (the famous restaurant) will also be available for guests to dine at!

We can’t wait for Disney to reveal even more details about the land because it seems to be coming along quickly despite not having an opening timeline yet. We’re hoping for some more information or even an opening timeline during Disney’s D23 Expo in August 2026. As always, be sure to keep following AllEars for more Disney news, updates, tips, and more!
