Tips about Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Mousecellaneous and Photography

Want to get prepped for your Hidden Mickey hunt at WDW, Disney style? Just watch Lion King 1 1/2. There are so many Hidden Mickeys in this movie that I lost count! - Alea L.

Here are some photo tips:

1) Watch out for the lighting. Even though you might not see shadows, your camera will pick up any dark places and your photo might not come out as good. Don't be afraid to use your flash in the daytime. Sometimes you need "filler" light for shadowy places -- for example under a person's chin or in the nooks and crannies of a piece of architecture.

2) Try to get photos of the back of the floats in the parade. Some of my best parade photos are of the back of floats. Also, when you pick your spot for the parade make sure you watch out for what is above you (a light or tree branch, for example). It would be a real bummer to pick a spot and sit there for a hour, and then when it comes time to take photos for the parade, find that there is a huge tree branch blocking your shot.

3) Be silly with the characters. Instead of the same boring old picture of you (or your family) and Pluto, scratch behind his ear and see what happens. Have your little girl whisper something in Snow White's ear and then take the photo. It is a lot of fun and will make some very memorable photos.

ALL PARKS - We read complaints about some of the attractions being too loud so we carried a set of earplugs in our fanny packs and found that they helped tremendously! We could still hear well, but our ears were much more comfortable. The earplugs don't take up any room at all either! - Diane Taylor

EPCOT - Make sure to mention the priceless moment when your toddler sees the SpaceShip Earth for the first time, and how their eyes light up and they start pointing and squealing. It is a great photo opportunity. - David Reich

EPCOT - On Spaceship Earth, wheelchair guests should see the Cast Member in front of the attraction. You will then be taken to another area to board the ride vehicles. Wheelchair guests need to transfer from the wheelchair to a ride vehicle.

EPCOT - On occasion, your Spaceship Earth *time vehicle* may stop momentarily. This usually is to allow persons in wheelchairs to transfer in and out of the ride vehicle.

EPCOT - Portions of Spaceship Earth are very dark. For the last third of the ride your vehicle will be backwards, rotating to face forward just before you exit.

EPCOT - Spaceship Earth is a continuous-loading ride and the line moves at a steady pace. Even so, do not wait in a long line for Spaceship Earth. Many people will stop here first thing, as it is the first attraction you see upon entering the park. Later in the day, there is little if any line for Spaceship Earth.
