NEW Permit Revealed for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster in Disney World

If your relationship with a popular attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios feels like a roller coaster in itself, you wouldn’t be alone in that.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith has had a rocky year in 2023 with an extended months-long refurbishment early in the year. The ride is now closed once again, and we’ve found some clues regarding how long we can expect it to remain closed.

But, when the ride isn’t working, it can be a real bummer. We’ve had an on-again, off-again relationship with this ride since its initial reopening post-pandemic closures, and currently, we’re in the latest state of refurbishment for the popular attraction.

While Disney World has yet to announce a hard date for when we could see the ride back up and running as it should be once again, permits recently filed may be able to tell us more.

Make it a super stretch

A permit filed in early February 2024 reveals that Disney intends to enlist the aid of Adena Corporation to assist with the ride’s refurbishment. Disney has partnered with Adena Corporation in the past for work on several of their attractions and now it seems they’re trusting them once again with Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.

When we viewed the permit, we noticed the address legally listed on file matches the same given address for this specific attraction — making no mistake that it’s a permit for work to be performed on this ride.

While the permit’s expiration date is listed in early February 2025 that’s pretty standard for the type of permit that has been pulled for this kind of work and isn’t necessarily implying that the ride will take that long to be refurbished.

We’re hoping that this current round of refurbishment will lead to being able to keep the ride open continuously upon its return with minimal unexpected downtime. We’ll be keeping a close watch on this one and for any further clues of when it may reopen so be sure to stay tuned with us for the latest!
