Is After Hours Worth $155 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios?

After Hours events at Disney World are a big price to pay during your vacation.

Right now, at the beginning of 2024, Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios both have after-hours events on select nights from January through April. But are Hollywood Studios After Hours events really worth the money? Let’s break it down!

The Negatives

Why WOULDN’T you want to go to Hollywood Studios after hours? Well, for one thing, during this time, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is closed for refurbishment. That means it’s one less ride you’ll be able to experience during the night.

The ticket alone also costs $155+ for non-annual passholders, and that’s a LOT to pay for a shorter day in the park — it’s basically the same price as a regular park day ticket! However, you will have much lower crowds and waits, but we’ll talk about that more later.

Our last negative is that there’s a real lack of dining for REAL food (aka not after hours treats and snacks) during the event. Many of the restaurants will close when the rest of the park does before the event. The only “restaurants” you’ll have available during the event are the Milk Stand, Woody’s Lunch Box, and the Anaheim Produce Stand.

But what about the positives?

The Positives

As we briefly mentioned before, you’ll be able to ride the majority of these MASSIVELY popular rides at VERY low waits! That’s one of the biggest perks about after hours events — there’s a limited amount of tickets sold for each event, so most rides never get above a 25 minute wait.

The low crowds also mean you’ll be able to walk around the park with plenty of space between you and those around you, but you can also get some great photos around the park with fewer people around.

You can also take photos with the roaming characters that will be around the park! Not only are they characters, but there are some RARE characters you can see like Pocahontas and Meeko, among many others.

You also can enter the park before the after hours event actually begins — as early as 7PM! We highly recommend you take advantage of this time, even if it’s just to eat an actual meal before the wait times drop when the event starts. Trust us, you’ll get hungry, and you may not want snacks all night.

Speaking of snacks, certain snacks are included for FREE during the event! Now, these snacks are just typical Disney snacks like Mickey Premium Bars, popcorn, soda, and more. This will still save you TONS of money, especially if you’re with a large group or family.

Lastly, there’s tons of entertainment you can experience during the event if you’re there early enough. This includes Fantasmic! as well as the shows that play on the Chinese Theater. It’s a great way to spend the beginning of your day while you’re waiting for the regular park guests to exit at the end of their day.

Overall, we would say that it IS worth it to buy an after hours ticket for Hollywood Studios if you’re NOT spending a full day in the parks. Why do we say this? Because that will be a LONG day that most people (adults and kids alike) just won’t be able to handle.
